Many of our clients know that last Spring was one our worst crappie fishing seasons on record (we only guide crappie for the Spring pre-spawn).

Note the green lines that show extreme rain/water levels we experienced March 20 and again April 2. That is typically our peak crappie fishing so those two extreme events virtually killed our crappie season. We're having another such event right now, but far earlier this year compared to 2021. Let's hope this is it for the season and Mother Nature shows us a little normalcy from here on out.

Amen, let's hope that we have a good long, normal spring. It seems it has been a while since we had what I would call a normal, stable spring. The last few years seem to have been either one epic flood after another or wild temperature swings. I know we all want a spring that stretches out. It seems like we go from freezing to 70 degrees and then after only a week of spring like temperatures the temperature shoots up to the upper 80s and summer is on us. The poor fish don't have a chance. Water level up, level down, up, down, hot, cold. Oh well, I'm crossing my fingers, toes, eyes hoping for some great fishing weather coming up that will stick around for a while.
