Jmax got me up waaayyy too early this AM to go down to the happy hunting grounds of Guntersville. Folks had really been tearing the bass up down there. My first time ever to fish with the legendary Jmax and we had a fun, productive day.. He is a better guide than my personal guide MB. It was cool but the water was 49 or 50 degrees and we were fishing in Mudd Creek in 3 feet of water or less. water was stained. Jmax, caught the first keeper (nice 3 pounder) and the smallest (6"). He made reference to CCSM when he caught the 6 incher. Still lots of boats in the area wanting to catch all those big bass... it did not happen. Many were leaving early or moving to other places.. We caught 25 bass and one big crappie. Only 6 were keepers and we would have weighed in 12+ pounds with best 5. Just wanted to let everyone know that we had a double on 2 very large fish. They weighed 12 pounds a piece. Small mouths, large scales, kinda yellow in color but man what a fight. Don't laugh they were fish...All fish were caught on traps. (red, or blackback yellow sides and something Jmax was throwing) I guess the bass had been aggrivated enough over the past 2 weeks so really wasn't into us trying to catch'um. All in all had a great time with a new found friend. I heard someone say they thought we were "Harry and Charley" from BASSMASTERS. I know I forgot the camera... We ran into 2jigs and fished in same area for awhile....I don't think he was catching anything...LOL

Good report, Fat Albert! I'm just glad that you finally caught a fish, even if it don't count. (Really they don't). No, if everyone could get them old brown/orange fish to hit artificials, no one would ever fish for Bass.

Speaking of 2jigs. He must be a bigger jink than you are. I have taken him twice and he hasn't even seen a fish. emoPoke emoBigsmile He's a really nice guy though. Has he ever fished with Jmax?

Was the wind as bad down there as it was up here starting up around 10:15? Give me rain, sleet, hail, heck I'd even take snow, but please keep the wind under gale force. Pretty please. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

FA I enjoyed your company as well and you kept me laughing most of the day. I was surprised that we did not catch at least one four lber but sounds like we did better than most we talked to so we need to count our blessing. I will tell you that FA can net some fish now....CCSM has some competition. One nice bass that jumped right by the boat FA caught in mid air and then the hook just fell out. I told him I had never seen in all my years of fishing a guy that can net them and take the hook out all on one swipe.emoWorthy Yep caught one bass about 6 inches long and I called him,"James".emoPoke emoBigsmileI think it had a small hole in the lip that looked like it may have been a blue grub. Had a great time FA and look forward to us going again. emoCool Jmax

I'm glad that you guys got out to enjoy the day today. I was stuck at work just like most of us but it's sure nice to know that even Jmax can get FA to catch a fish or two. :) FA, we need to get out there sometime this spring and get you on some fish.

Good report guys. Sad to hear the big fish were not cooperating. I think I'm going to take my dad to the big G Sat. for some R&R he has never been so I hope we can get on some.

FA, you weren't catching my carp were you?? Last friday when Jmax and I headed down to the big G. he really put me on a carp honey hole!! emoLaugh After snagging 3 or so,he said I should change my name to "carpking". I actually thought about it for a second. emoCool I glad you guys go to get out and enjoy the sun, nto to mention catch a few fish!!emoThumbsup

Yes, 2jigs and I have fished togather a couple of times but it seems like every time I take him the fish stop bitting.emoScratch I think the last time we went it took me most of the morning to have him finally boat a 4.5 lber.emoEvil Of course I had to shake off several as not to make him look all that bad. emoRolleyes emoPoke He is trying to get me to make the run from Shellmound to the Mudd this weekend but after yesterday I think I will pass. We did go out into the river to hit a couple (secret) holes I got up there but they were not in there yet and about beat us up coming back with the wind straight down the river and us having to go against it.emoEek Yesterday according to what I saw on the charts was suppose to be one of the worst day of the month to fish so us getting 25 in the boat, loosing about another 5 coming to the boat and maybe missing another 10 I thought we had a good day.emoThumbsup Jmax

2jigs is going to get a complex if we keep jabbing him like this. I'm so glad that he doesn't take me seriously. If he had the attitude like some folks did over MadBomber's and my joke about Polo's dock last year, it could be a problem. I know that you nearly got your panties in a wad over that. emoBigsmile emoBigsmile emoGeezer JK, this is a spoof as well.

Sounds like you fella's had ALMOST as much fun as I did. It was a great day to be out with great people no doubt.

Nice job fella's .. where's the pics??? Fat Albert you have a camera!!!! :)

I walked right by my camera on the way out the door.... Thought about it when I got to the dam and did not have time to run back and get it...so we did not have it for the pics.. sorry... next time it will go..Wind???yes, it got up mid day and made the ride real rough up river....FA

I thought I saw you guys. I was fishing in the back of Mud Creek also early not too far from you. Too many boats for my liking so I headed up to Racoon Creek. I had the whole area to myself. The water temp at the mouth of the creek was 48 but the back end of the coves were 54. Ended up catching 14 with 5 being keepers. I would guess their total weight around 11 pounds. Caught them on chatter bait and red baby 1 minus in shallow water at the backs of the coves.

Way to go FA! I'm glad you guys had a good trip although I'm a little concerned about your netting abilityemoLaugh. After all it seems my claim to fame at least when I'm fishing with Jmax is that I swing a pretty mean net. And I'm going have to speak to my buddy Jmax about his comments about 6" bass emoHoppingmad He knows that most of the time I don't catch 6" bass ---- sometimes I don't catch any at allemoRedface.

Don't start talking like that CCSM, I usually get waxed by you when you fish out of my boat. I just think that Jmax turns the boat so that you don't get the good casts. emoAngel Just joking Jmax. CCSM, I think that you are getting a complex.

CCSM I still love ya,man!emoLaugh You know I was just joking. It was right over by the rip rap you did catch that little one during the Tx and I said,"Hey lookie here, it's James!" I did wonder if it was the same fish.emoScratch

Polo, I have had years of how to expertly front boat a person. I do it so well most of the time folks do not even realize it.emoEvil Jmax
