FA thumps MB 9-15-06 on the river

Just Kidding! Actually FA did very well today. We were having so much fun that I lost count of who caught how many, but my impression is that I caught a few more than The Fat One. However it wasn't very many more and he caught the biggest. A 2 lb 4 oz LM on a fat rap (what else?) I got a 14 1/2" SM and we both caught a 12" SM. I snagged a little flathead.

We started about 7:30 and went downriver and fished the same stretch of riprap than DK & I fished Tuesday. We quit about 12:15.

We caught:
37 fish total
19 Spots
7 Lm & SM longer than 12"
2 LM & SM less than 12"
9 of other species.

We took 10 Spots home for the table.

Thanks, DrumKing for the instructions on fishing with MB.... A couple of casting lures by his head really straightened him out.... It is amazing just what it takes to get his attention....J/K, what a great morning to be on the water... We had a blast... I guess it was the long period of time that I was not on the water that got me catching fish... yea... He got to catching fish hot and heavy and tried to sell me one of them "SWEET SOMETHINGS" for lots of money, but I just kept on fishing with my stuff.... He may have caught a couple more than me but not many...3?emoDoh we caught um on crank baits (deep WeeR's, bombers, bandits, jig/pig,sweet beavers). and of course on "THE RIP/RAP BELOW THE DAM. Several of the fish hit 10-12 ft of the RR. maybe they were following the bait... However, it was great to get on the water to cure my depression... yeah, I don't know what depression is..... life is too good .... the Vols are winning and everything is going to be ok.......Oh, one other thing...MB stayed hung up quite a bit this morning.. lost lots of stuff.... sorry to have to report that little bit of info....emoSorry emoSorry emoGeezer that was a good picture of me,HUH?

Well I have been anticipating a report from you guys all day....and as usual you didn't disapoint (or dissapoint)!!!!! Very informative and certainly entertaining.....FA, I bet that jacket felt good with the little nip in the air this morning!! Blasting off early on Nickajack in the morning and I would say long sleeves WILL be needed!! Love this time of year!!! SKIN THE GATORS!!!!!!

Hey FA, I told you that a bandit whizzed by the ear at close range will get you in fishing position in no time. Congrats on the catch. That CB that MadBomber is holding up looks just like the one that he let me fish with the other day. (He stayed hung up a lot the other day too.) He was just grubbing those bigger bass out of the rocks.emoGeezer

Looks like a small flathead wanted that CB. Last time I had bass I was a kid and I recall it was pretty good eatin - I'm not a big fish eater but I may need to try one of those spots fried up cajun style sometime. emoHungry

I'm hoping TT gives us a fish tasting report. She made dinner for FA & BW this evening so we gave her the filets from today. I already have two packs in the freezer.

Dhaun those small spots are some of the finest eating fish there are. Pan fry them in EVOO with the cajun seasoning you mentioned and they will make a believer out of you.emoHungry

I was excited to see that cat snagged with MY FAVORITE CRANKBAIT!!! Tn Shad .. rocks! Didn't get to taste those little buggars yet MB. I had chicken defrosted for 3 days and had to get it gobbled up before I had to toss it in the trash. BUT rest assured those things will find my plate this weekend.

Very nice of you fellas to share your bounty with me. I'm grateful. Looks like a fine time was had by everyone and every thing except for those unlucky spots!

New bumper sticker ... Eat More Spots! I don't recall ever eating them before so I'm looking forward to it.

Nice Fish there FA!!! You guys look like you are tearing them up! Hopefully I'll make it out this weekend. All this talk about fish frying has made me hungry. Gotta go get some of those spots.
