I fished Fall Creek Falls Lake a few times before they turned it into a resort. We would always get over 100 of the biggest Bluegills I had ever seen anywhere else. Those were the days!
Yeap, it sure was. I was up there less than Five years ago and the big brim were there but not like they were years ago. Those brim were a Hybrid type that were much longer than the regular fish. They had big bull heads with a longer tail. Those type brim were also stocked in the old half centry old strip-minning crators and several lakes around Coalmont, TN.
I remember going to "B" Lake near Coalmont where we caught some real huge Brim. Approximately Twenty years ago the "B" lake was poisoned by a minning error and killed all the lake's fish. We went to the lake a couple years after the kill and found the lake to be cyrstal clear and no fish.. Sad feeling to loose that spot.
I think Fall Creek Falls fell victom to severe overfishing.
I was there about 3 years ago, and the bass were just everywere, big ones too! 5+pounders swimming around everywere, though I couldn't get them to bite.emoBang

If you can avoid being seen by those fish in that clear water you can catch tons of them. If you see them, they see you, so move on. The bast way I have found to catch those shy and hook trained bass is to go to the left, all the way to the back of a slough or to a shady side of one of the points and pull up into the grass and sit still and be quiet. Being on the shaded side will put the sun in their eyes and give you a slight edge. As they swim along cast to them and catch them by supprise. That works.
Yeah the bass saw me. I even tried live bait, and still it didn't work! The live bait I used were bream, and I threw the bream a couple of feet from the bass, and usually that works, but it didn't!!!!!!!!emoScratch It usually works even if the fish sees me, but not at Fall Creek Falls!! I'll have to get up there again, cuz' those biggies make me craaazy!
