All 8 of us fished the Sequoyah Nuke area pretty much and although the forecast was for 3-5 mph wind it felt more like 10-12 mph and was pretty chilly on a near full moon making for some tough conditions. Today was not my day. I had one 2lb fish pull off at the boat...

Just like the cat battle I learned a ton from talking to these anglers at the weigh-in about the specifics of their catches and the drops they were fishing. I learned one can be a few feet from an area holding great fish and never really know it unless it is fished a certain way. I think at the nuke, even though it can be crowded at times that anglers can be on a good spot and not even know it if their boat position, drift, depth, and optimal bait presentation is not considered.

Congratulations on a the great catch by Fishing Machine - He certainly knows how to fish certain areas for big fish!

I'll post pics on this thread as I get them via email.

King of the Fall Whiskerfest! - Fishing Machine - 44lbs
High5 - 34lbs
Baitbucket - 29lbs
MrWiskers - 13lbs
greless - 1.5lbs
whisler11 - 1.2lbs
WLG and DHaun - tied for last place with donut landed.

Man! Congrats on that 44lbs! I knew yesterday would be a tough day on the water for ANYTHING! Great job guys considering conditions!

It was very tough out there today. We ( High5 and I ) sat there for 3 1/2 hours without nothing more than some bait stealers nibblin on our skipjack. I moved around to a couple other spots and never could locate any fish on the graph, so I remembered what fishing machine had told me and I went back to my starting point and anchored down on them and I was just telling High5 how I hated it that we had came down here to get skunked when his rod tip hit the water BAM!!!!!!! and the fight was on. This was his first Tennessee Blue cat . I got so excited when I scooped it up in the net I almost fell out of the back of the boat. I was really glad to get to see him catch this thing as he is moving to Indiana in a couple weeks. Its sad to see my neighbor and good freind go but this was one heck of a going away present he said. We had a BLAST even though we only caught this one fish it was well worth the wait. Special thanks goes out to Fishing Machine for all the info he has gave me and the freindship we have made. And CONGRATULATIONS on your win. You well deserve it Fishing Machine. Here are the Pics of High5 and his trophy 34lb Blue Cat.

krikeys!thats a huge fish! i hope yall had a great time .i could tell by the pics it was no 3 to 5 mph wind!

Well Dhaun and I had not prefished any so we decided to fish the ledge at the Nuke plant. Now keep in mind I had not been catfishing in over a month so I was not expecting much. We were anchored by about 7:15 and at 7:45 I caught my first and largest fish at 13 lbs. The wind was blowing at daylight so I knew we were in for it. We fished a couple of spots on the ledge (which goes from 18 to 40 feet) and just as we were getting ready to leave I landed an 11 lber. David hooked and lost his only fish of the day at the boat just before I caught the 11 lber. David's monster would have weighed all of 2-3 lbs.

We decided to look for other fish and ran up to the Nuke intake. Fishing Machine already had this spot locked up so we went back to the ledges. Nothing. Pulled up again and ran to Harrison Bluff to fish some of the humps. Nothing there either. Ended up drifting another deep hole and I tagged an 8 lber.

The wind blew all day and we fished white cap conditions for over half the tourny. I was very happy to catch the 3 I did and I lost 3 more that came unbuttoned (all were less than 10lbs). I felt sorry for David as he goose egged today.

It was good to meet some of the other members. I met 2jigs at the dock. Nice sunglasses 2jigs.

I look foward to the next one. Only this time I plan on pre-fishing.

congrats on your win!!! That was a heck of a nice big blue. To all of you other guys that had big fish--way to go! Today we just weren't on the right spots. Thanks DHaun, we had a great time. The fellowship and knowledge shared at the ramp made it a great day. emoThumbsup

Congrats FM!!!! Looks like yall had it a lot more windy than we did.
----tough day on the water and I guess all I can blame it on is the moon phase!! LOL

congrats fishing machine on the win. wish i could have been there but the nick tourn took it's toll on me. also check your pm.

David, I just wanted to say that Baitbucket and I had a great time Sunday at the Fall Whisker Fest. As we all know, it was tough out there. I just hate more people didn't join us. It was real good to be able to talk to every one after the tx. was over. Special thanks to foodsaver for putting me on fish that he caught Monday. This is what make this forum so strong, I take a young man out fishing that I've never met and he catches four hugh fish. Later, he calls me because he knows that I'm fishing a Tx. that he's not able to fish, so he tells me where he was catching fish early in the week. This is why it is very important to share not only what you catch fish on, but also where you catch fish. So again David, thanks for allowing me to be a part of this forum.

Here's the pic of FM's winning fish, a 44 pounder that looked a lot bigger to us when we first got him in the boat. FM caught him about 11:15. I caught my only fish of the tourney, a personal best 29 #, about 7:45.

FM also had an 11-pound blue, a 4-pound channel and some kind of beast that snapped my brand new 50-lbs. spiderwire off at the hook.

Thanks for the tourney David. See you next time. Bucket

TT,

It was a beautiful day, despite the wind. Here's a pic taken just after sunrise aboard A Boat Named Sue.

44lbs emoWorthy emoWorthy !
FM definatly knows how to find the BIG cats!!! I was really looking foward to fishing with you guy's, but my boat was running a little rough so I took it to my mechanic for a checkup and found out the coil pack was going bad. It's fixed now and I'll be picking it up tomorrowemoToast . Even with the tough conditions you guys pulled in some big fish and took some great pics... congrats to everyone.

Good job folks! That is some nice pics and nice smiles in the pics.. Thanks for the reports and info. It is good about folks sharing info with each other. Congrats to the winner and all who fished. emoThumbsup
