Congratulations to JSV/Mike Forbis for their 20lb bag!!! Good seeing everybody and thanks for showing up!!!

Up next is Nickajack on July 12th. It will be a dogfight from 6am-11am out of Sullivan's.

Davo and I headed north for our first stop ( 22-40 foot ledge), we idled for about a minute and found the fish stack in a particular area. We both started with deep crankbaits. My first cast I landed a solid 3+lber. Davo's second cast he lands a bigger 3+lber. So our confidence is growing quickly now! Withing the next 15 minute Davo proceeds to catch some dinks and then landed our big fish of the night. This one was pushing 4lbs. So we decided to go up the ledge just about 50 yards to see if anything was there on the sonar. We were heading back to our honey hole and a freakin boat cut us off bad!!! They just pulled right on in and started fishing. So that wrecked our momentum badly! So e farted around looking for other ledges and decided to run back down river. Of course every community hole was loaded with a boat or two. So made a choice to hit a ledge near Harrison bay. It was doing well for us, we filled our limit quickly and were in the middle of catching fish on every cast when a lady on a jet ski wanted us to pull her in. After talking to the TWRA officer who had her pulled over, we trolled on back to our "hot spot", guess what.. our fish quit biting!!! So our next few hours were in Wolftever to no avail and then off the a differant slew. I caught a nice 2 and 3/4 lb bass on a dd22 burning over a point, culled one our smaller bass. That was pretty much it for the night.

Jason and I started fishing ledges with swimbaits, spoons, Carolina rigs, and cranks. We only managed 1 keeper spot. Once it got dark, we fished most of my usual haunts. Caught one 3 lber between some docks in Chester Frost Park, a solid 5 lber off a main lake point, and our 4th and last keeper around Island Cove Marina. All 3 fish were caught on a 10" Red Bug Zoom Ole Monster. The spot was taken on a swimbait. We just couldn't land that 5th fish. It was my first time fishing a tourney with Jason. I hope we can do it again Brother.

Joe and I had about 16 pounds in the box by about 9:00 or so but we couldn't keep the big ones alive. We caught them on cranks, blades, and even swimbaits. I used release me, rejuvenade, and ran he aerators all night. I guess they figured if they had been caught by two idiots that life just wasn't worth living anymore. We didn't catch a fish after it got dark and packed it in about 1:30.

Even though tndoe outfished me by a small margin (her 10 to my 1) I had a great time and it was nice meeting everyone.

Had the usual great time and enjoyed seeing everyone. That was a very good sack that Mike F. and JSV had last night. CONGRATS!!!!!emoWorthy emoWorthy emoWorthy Would have taken third in the CBA for a lot more bucks. Me and churly had a limit at 8:30 and were culling at 9 but the big bass just seemed to evade us.emoGoofy We caught fish all that evening and several more that night. I think in all we had 10 or 11 keepers but just not any of any size. Churly I know had to loose at least 4 or 5 nice solid keepers on a swim bait that we saw come up and jump. He did not make me feel bad considering that is my problem with that bait.@#*%!!!!emoMad I hate to fish one because I seem to loose so many. I stuck to a jigging spoon when it was light and a black spinner bait and worm once the sun went down. I would say it was fair to say we boated around 45 bass, 4 huge cats, 3 drum over 10 lbs each and no telling how many whites. We mostly fished ledges and humps but we did beat the deeper banks some once it got dark but the better bites were deep along the river in around 20 to 25 feet. Lots of good fish came in last night and congrats to all who had them.emoApplauseJmax

Thanks for the ride there Churly, I really like your boat. It reminds me of mine.;) Also thanks Chris as always for putting these togather.emoThumbsup

Bbass and me started on a ledge down river from 20 to 40 foot deep. We caught several fish there on DJW Spinnerbaits and Jigging Spoons. But only 2 small keepers. We moved just after dark to a long hump that tops out at 9 foot, we were sitting in about 16 foot throwing up. We switched over to 10" worms texas rigged and caught a few more there including 2 nice fish. Went back to our first spot. Caught 1 keeper Spot and another nice sized Lg. mouth on the worm. Billy caught a few on Swim Baits earlier in the evening also. I dont think we caught another fish after 11:30, ended up with 6 keepers, one being a 13" Spot that we culled to a little over 14 pounds. Billy had a big fish get off that would have helped us but no where close to what Mike and Jason had. Congrats to yall, that was a real nice bag of fish

. Good to see everyone last night ( this morning ) after the weigh in.

Congrats to JSV and Mike...very nice bag. dec1 and I were pretty much on the same pattern as everyone else. We caught a ton of fish ( several of the wrong species, including a huge cat...25 to 30 lbs, that totally destroyed Eric's spinnerbait and my back trying to net it) and probably had twenty keepers, but we could only cull 3 times. We never got the big bite. We found most of our fish on river ledges using spoons, sb, cb, jigs and worms. It was a very enjoyable night after the brief tsunami and a pleasure to spend time with a good friend. Enjoyed seeing everyone and thanks Chris for your effort in running these tx's.emoCool Al

I just wanna say that I was an excellent guide and net man last night. Along with my driving skills in wind and rain, we were about dead upon arrival at our first stop..

Now when I think about it...it was kinda funny. Standing there on deck with the motor turned off, talking to Kathy only to look around and see 7-8 boats at a high speed rate coming at us..LOL!

Your doing a good job on the Tx Bud

Thanks again to all who came, it was a very interesting and fun night. Chris and I caught quite a few good fish and I think that we probably could have finished with a bit more weight if someone didn't come and cut in front of where we had been catching them. Chris pretty much summed up our night except to say that he caught a gar on a plastic worm. I think that's the first time I've ever heard of that.

What was weird about the blast off was when we came out to the channel and saw several guys on the green bouy hole, I was thinking to myself, man, I can't believe how many people are fishing there alreadyemoLaugh .

Me and my dad (sdfd29) had a decent night. We got to our first spot and found out we had left our rain jackets in the truck but luckily it didn't rain much at all. I landed out first keeper out deep in about 25' and we thought it would be a good night. After about 30 minutes of fishing, dad had a good fish on and as he was bringing it to the boat it got off just out of netting distance. It was around 6 lbs and things went downhill from there. I had a good bite just down from that spot and it came to the top and tossed my swim bait back at me. We ended up loosing several more keepers over the night. As it started to get dark we headed upriver to a shallow spot where we had found some topwater fish and while we found another keeper it was only around 2 lbs and wasn't the size we needed. When it got dark we caught a lot of fish up shallow on spinnerbaits but they were 13-14" largemouth. We headed into the park at around 1:00 AM and couldn't fish anywhere since there were boats on the spots we wanted to fish. We saw Lance and his partner load the boat and we decided to head home just after him. I enjoyed it and I wish we could have had a limit to have brought to the weigh in.

I will say that the blast off was a little weird. We had just ran out to the mouth of the park and were idling up to meet BBas and TnDoe and we look back and see Lance and everybody running out of the park. A little confusing but we got the message that it was time to go. emoLaugh

Jmax summed up our night pretty well. I had a great time and hope we can have another night event before too long. Thanks for putting this on Chris, and Big congrats to JSV and Mike for a real nice bag of fish!

I will make a report this afternoon for Mike and I. I am covered up at work and my home computer doesn't work right now. Sorry for the late report!

I will say it was a great night on the water and thanks Chris for putting these on. You do a good job!

Mike and I headed out at about 5:55 and was the last one out

. We didn't have much of a game plan for the 6 and 7 o'clock hours but felt comfortable we could muster a limit. Since everyone was a head of us and we figured most of the up river community holes would be covered up. We eased up river and found one community hole with no one on it. A river ledge drop with some bait fish on it. We started out throwing a swimbait and a worm. Mike caught a good fish which we never culled on the swim bait and I caught one on the worm. We caught 2 keeper fish and headed out. We stopped and fished another drop and found our other three keepers there (two decent fish and three dinks). That is pretty much how our whole night went. We popper around to several areas on the river and hit a couple places in the creeks and would catch a few fish each stop and many times they were upgrades. At one location we did find a concentration of fish and Mike was catching a fish every other cast on a jig in about 18ft of water however most of them were just keepers or short fish. We caught fish all night and even finally got a few on a 3/4oz blade. They were pounding the blade yet the hits on the worm and jig were a little more subtle. The big fish fell victim to a worm on a river drop in about 12ft of water. I think we culled our last fish at about 2am in the park. It was very good night for us, especially since this was just the second time this year we have night fished together. We started out with 40lb's of ice and by 9o'clock we had to make a call for more ice. We found most of our fish on the ledges and very few which were related to wood structure or brush piles. Thanks Chris! It was well run and it was good to see everyone and talk after the Tx.

Dangit Mike, I was hoping to see the new Kitty. I wondered where you were. Anyways, it seemed alot of people had problems keeping their fish alive. We had our spot die only after Mr. Ranger of the TWRA touched it. It was swimming merrily around 2 minutes before and was dead 5 minutes after he left. The other fish did fine. Even the 5 lber. I just kept pumping in fresh water. Toxins will build up if you keep recirculating the same water. I've never had a need for ice. All that being said however, I am new to deep structure fishing. I may need to start adding ice and learning from Jason how to fizz a fish.
