I can't, in good conscience, just let you guys go. After the outpouring of posts, the phone calls and the PMs that I received yesterday afternoon and last night, I had to re-check my spirit and mind to make sure that I wasn't making a mistake. While walking my normal 45 minutes and communing with the Lord this morning, this is what I perceived to be what would be pleasing to the Lord. It would please Him if I continued my assignment with CFF. You know, we all are on the road of life and everyone of us comes to a fork in the road at times and really don't know exactly which road to take. The Lord lets us choose the path that we take and if it is the right path, then we have great peace. When we choose the wrong path, there is agitation in our hearts instead of peace. That is the Lord's signal to re-trace our steps and take the other path. Does this make any sense to any of you?
I have known from the get-go that CFF was a God ordained, living, breathing, sharing, loving, praying, body of men and women who share a common love of fishing. There are probably a few selfish ones on here that would destroy the work of God and those are the ones that draw my responses when they start name calling and cutting each other up. But, even Jesus had one devil among his 12 disciples.
I haven't been posting because I haven't been fishing. From my records, June and October are the best months for catching crappie. I have proven this from year to year. This June, I have only fished once for crappie and on that day, cuonthelake and I caught 47. I did fish for about 2 hours with her in the creek on another day to show her how to fish a certain lure for white bass and she promptly caught the biggest white bass that I have seen come into my boat. The only other time that I have fished this entire month, I fished with Bassert (who is so discouraged by lack of responses that he seldom posts anymore) (not a good thing, Pat), and we fished up at Sequoia for those schooling bass. We fished 1/2 day and caught 166 bass on topwater. He didn't report it. I'm only telling what most everyone else already knows about the white bass up at the nuke plant. There were 17 boats up there the day that we were fishing. If it gets to be too many to fish, then just deal with it. Go do something else and try to expand your fishing knowledge.
I don't know when I will get back into the swing of fishing like I was doing before, but I promise that if I go fishing, then I will post a report. Good or bad. If I go with someone else, they are responsible for posting the report as I am a guest in their boat. I will let you guys know that I am working on a deep water technique that could prove to be lethal for the crappie. I can't wait to get on the water and try to and perfect this technique. The only way to get to be a better fisherman is to try different things and fish for different species. Hammering the same fish day after day after day isn't doing you a bit of good. It certainly doesn't do the fish any good either. I heard your post, Pete.
I am including a little "live action" courtesy of Rsimms from a few years ago. Many of you have already seen this video, but many of the newbies haven't and may be a little bit entertaining for you.
