I can't, in good conscience, just let you guys go. After the outpouring of posts, the phone calls and the PMs that I received yesterday afternoon and last night, I had to re-check my spirit and mind to make sure that I wasn't making a mistake. While walking my normal 45 minutes and communing with the Lord this morning, this is what I perceived to be what would be pleasing to the Lord. It would please Him if I continued my assignment with CFF. You know, we all are on the road of life and everyone of us comes to a fork in the road at times and really don't know exactly which road to take. The Lord lets us choose the path that we take and if it is the right path, then we have great peace. When we choose the wrong path, there is agitation in our hearts instead of peace. That is the Lord's signal to re-trace our steps and take the other path. Does this make any sense to any of you?

I have known from the get-go that CFF was a God ordained, living, breathing, sharing, loving, praying, body of men and women who share a common love of fishing. There are probably a few selfish ones on here that would destroy the work of God and those are the ones that draw my responses when they start name calling and cutting each other up. But, even Jesus had one devil among his 12 disciples.

I haven't been posting because I haven't been fishing. From my records, June and October are the best months for catching crappie. I have proven this from year to year. This June, I have only fished once for crappie and on that day, cuonthelake and I caught 47. I did fish for about 2 hours with her in the creek on another day to show her how to fish a certain lure for white bass and she promptly caught the biggest white bass that I have seen come into my boat. The only other time that I have fished this entire month, I fished with Bassert (who is so discouraged by lack of responses that he seldom posts anymore) (not a good thing, Pat), and we fished up at Sequoia for those schooling bass. We fished 1/2 day and caught 166 bass on topwater. He didn't report it. I'm only telling what most everyone else already knows about the white bass up at the nuke plant. There were 17 boats up there the day that we were fishing. If it gets to be too many to fish, then just deal with it. Go do something else and try to expand your fishing knowledge.

I don't know when I will get back into the swing of fishing like I was doing before, but I promise that if I go fishing, then I will post a report. Good or bad. If I go with someone else, they are responsible for posting the report as I am a guest in their boat. I will let you guys know that I am working on a deep water technique that could prove to be lethal for the crappie. I can't wait to get on the water and try to and perfect this technique. The only way to get to be a better fisherman is to try different things and fish for different species. Hammering the same fish day after day after day isn't doing you a bit of good. It certainly doesn't do the fish any good either. I heard your post, Pete.

I am including a little "live action" courtesy of Rsimms from a few years ago. Many of you have already seen this video, but many of the newbies haven't and may be a little bit entertaining for you.

you know Dickie I am glad to hear it. Hopefully your post will encourage others (including me) to post reports when we go.

Shoulda read 1st before posting on original, woulda said same though.........good to hear about your conservation, & decision........... emoGeezer emoUSA

DK, I'm sure glad to hear that you'll still be fishing and posting on the board. I can't wait to hear about the deep water style your working on since thats what I mostly fish. I don't know if I can wait or not, I'll probably just have to call to hear about it from the horses mouth. You know Im a hard headed person I guess, and the Lord knows this and sometimes, xxxx no just about all the time I get it wrong and he has to show me several times what he wants me to do. There are alot of people on here and what better place to witness to the Lord than on here and with the people you meet fishing. You know Nascar has a preacher that visits with the drivers and crews every wk.end. Maybe, just saying, maybe this is where the Lord wants you to be. I know myself and alot of other people like reading and learning from your post. emoAngel

I too am glad you are staying on. emoAngel For those that have stopped posting due to the lack of responses I would strongly encourage you to reconsider and look at views more then responses. If you get a lot of views then your reports are being read. emoThumbsup Jmax

Very happy you reconsidered, Dickey, you're essential to the CFF in so many ways and we need you to make us better persons and better fishermen! Looking forward to many future reports and pics from you!

Best regards,

Pete Sr. (Nauticman)

Dickey, so glad that you are not leaving the forum. I think that the positives of the site still outweigh the negatives by a large margin. I need to get out there more myself. Lots of other things have been keeping me off the water. I am so thankful for all that I have learned from you about fishing and life. I know that there are huge numbers of others on the forum that would say the same thing. The time is about right to hit the deep crappie. I can hardly wait to see what you have thought up now. Thanks again for being a great friend.

As noted before, don't let anybody "guilt" you into anything... but I'm happy I'll get to continue reading your musings. emoApplause

You're kind of like EricM... you normally "write it" a whole lot better than you "tell it." emoBigsmile

I just wanted to say I'm glad your still going to be here and post. I've read alot of the older posts you and some of the other guys have posted and by those posts I knew I was in the right "spot". When I read reports I just look for the info of how deep, time and type of lure. Color, brand ect do not matter to me, just a pattern. I like the photos of the fish cause they help tell a story along with the report, but I don't try to find a landmark in the back ground to pin point anyones spot lol. I watched the video rsimms had on youtube acouple months ago and really enjoyed it, love to see another one. You older posters still have alot to contribute and I know alot of people don't respond to your posts or reports (as it seems) but alot do look. I get discourged to when I do get a report up and it doesn't get alot of replys, but atleast the views are there. I'm working on mine because I want mine to be as entertaining as some of yours and the other guys because when I can't go, reading your posts helps me through the work week and I want to do the same. I know the Forum has changed alot to you guys, and I understand that, but there still people that are willing to learn and want to learn from you all. Imagine if we combined all the threads that their is and put it in one book, how awesome that book would be! I just want to say thanks not only to you but all the other posters that contribute, thats why I still think it was a good decision to join. Peace emoAngel

Thank you so much for hanging out with us awhile longer;I know that I for one will be watching for future reports of the great 'DK'. Your calling is with mixed emotions and only time will tell how well that you heeded to your feelings. On a lighter note, it would really be tough on me to loose your CFF commentary and Chipper Jones from the Braves in the same year!

emoWelcomeback! Although admittedly I don't give a crap emoPoke about crappie fishing, I always enjoy reading your posts. As Jmax stated, the views, rather than replies, let you know people find your info worth the read.

So glad you are staying as I've learned alot from you and have passed on everything I could possible teach to other friends of mine.
