I have a 1999 Ficht 200, I know lots of people don't like these motrs but honestly its been pretty good to me. OK when I first crank it for the day it idles very low until it warms up. After the warm up it idles great and performs fine. Anyone got any suggestions.

Start early is my suggestion. emoBigsmile Give it time to warm up and go with it.

I have had my share of issues with mine which is the same as yours but a 2000 year. I also have the issue with cold starts, I was told they were known for it. emoRolleyes When I finally got a lower unit off another 200 fitch most of my issues have now stopped with mine. I have a warning oil alarm go off every now and then once it starts and was told the oil sensor is more then likely going out. emoDoh It is always something with these bigger engines. Like you said however.....once it gets going and warms up it is good. emoTongue Jmax

I have a ficht 225 on my boat and it started having problems with cold starts not wanting to idle but when it warmed up it was fine. After a while it started skippin a little on take off so i put some plugs in it and so far it has fixed the problem.

spark plugs would be the first thing I would look at replace them and gap them at 0.28 could also be a thermostat hung open it should idle higher while cold and slowly idle down as it warms up

Same problem, Ifound a bushing wore out on the throttle linkage. Check the linkage on the driver side of engine. Call me at 593-2737

Thanks for all the info. Not been to long since plugs were changed. Is there a plug recommened over another. Also computer rebuilt last summer, was hoping that would solve the problem but nope. I will take a look at the linkage also. Thanks again.
