3 of my boys and I finally got into a mess of crappie. I been reading and reading about all these fine catches you guys/gals are posting and it was tearin me up.
We started out yesterday morning (Monday) in Ramsey slough but only 3 and 2 of those were dinks.
Called a friend of mine who owns a Marina and ask permission to come fish. (nope, not goin to say which one).
But will say, there sure were a bunch of fish around them boat docks. We caught over 80 total, with 34 good keepers that got a free ride home with us. They are now in the freezer all filleted out and ready to fry.....mmm
Most all of them came off the asasinns (bad spelling....help TT). The clear looking ones with the sparkles. Tried other baits and even minnows, but caught most on the plastics. Some jigged up/down but most under a float, casting toward the bank. Alot of them were caught in as little as 2 feet of water, so you had to be ready to set the hook as soon as you started your retrive.
For all of you bank fishing folks, (like us) u mite want to try casting along the bank as well as out into the water.
Some as deep as 8 feet, but a good many, right on the bank toward dark. All were dark in color and most of the females had eggs, but a few of the males, looked to have been fanning beds as their tails were messed up.
I'm guessing, that some may have laid eggs already and others are real close. On the females we kept, eggs were a light yellow in color.
Would have posted a pic but no camera with us and when I got home last nite, it was after 9 and all I wanted to do was clean them and get some rest.
Fish really turned it on about dusk as others are posting.
