I caught a 8lb 9oz largemouth on 2-15-06 while fishing a shallow runing crank bait in about 7 foot of water in wolftever creek @ 11:30 am.
I took him this morning to Bud Hull to get mounted. I felt like he was a good one after reading on this site about other peoples best fish out of the chick.

Congratulations 1ethicalfisherman and Thanks for the report! If you have a picture please post it or email it to me so we can recall just exactly what a Chickamauga fattie looks like...

If you start catching too many of those and your walls get full, I would suggest you start eating them. They are very tasty. A lot better than crappie. A lot more meat, too!!

JUSTKIDDING! jim and 2jigs!!!!

Hahaa.... if you post that on Bass Fishing Home Page the BFHP police will come to your house, kick your butt, and sink your boat...

Good post!emoLaugh

Wow, great fish. I have caught a 7lber out of Wolftever and a few 6's but never an 8. Hopefully the bass are getting bigger and bigger. I know a buddie caught a 9lber in Wolftever once but it was late in the fall. Congrats on your big catch.

What is the correlation between big bass, 7lbs and up, and Wolftever? Is it coincidence that so many of us have caught our personal best out of the creek, rather than the bay? If our sample is representative of the local bass fishing population, then there are a ton of fisherman out there whose "big fish" story begins with Wolftever.

my big fish didnt come from wolftever. i have caught a few decent fish, but not my biggest by any means. my biggest ones all came on guntersville and nickajack. in the grass.

Thanks for sending the pics 1ethical - Nice one indeed - Congrats! emoParty

Now here's the Wolftever fattie! I like the one of the kid - I bet he will not soon forget looking down the mouth of a hog like that...

I think that the creek tends to be easier to fish than the bay on a day to day basis because of the wind, etc. I think that there is a lot of nutrient load that comes down that creek every year too which begins the food chain and let's them get big and fat. I do think that the fish, or at least the big fish, are well versed on fishermen in Wolftever and so I think that if you catch one there it usually won't be really shallow or in an obvious spot because it gets fished so hard compared to much of the lake.

Thanks guys. I have learned alot since I started looking at CFF. I like to think that all you gus had some influince in my catching that fish. Keep up the good work.
