I almost went fishing this morning,....boy, I am so glad I gave it one more try for a trophy buck this year. Here it was the last day of the year and I had yet to shoot and find a good buck this year. I had hit the one up in Marion County that I never found and other then that one I had only seen does and small bucks.
This morning with a cool 31 degrees and frost I was sure hoping that the deer would be moving. As I got to my spot the fog was rolling in and I could not see 50 yards.emoEek I have a deer blind I had built on a long run where the deer had been moving but I had not had any good shots at anything big. It was about 7:15 and I settled down for a nice cold morning to watch the woods come alive. It is so peaceful in the morning and as the sun started to come over the horizon and birds began to sing I remembered why I like it in the woods even if the deer are not around. It was about 8:05 and I heard a lot of noise coming off the hill that rose in front of me but the fog shielded whatever it was. There are a lot of Turkey in that area and at first I thought it was a few turkey coming down my way. As I peered into the fog I caught sight of a nice sized deer and he was going a good pace angling toward me out in front. The fog made it hard to see him well but shortly I saw a very nice rack!emoTongue I saw right off he was a keeper so I stopped looking at the horns and started looking for the shot. He was moving closer but at an angle in front so I waited a few more yards and when he hit an opening in the trees I let him have one. At around 80/100 yard shot he fell in his tracks and kicked a couple but never got back up.emoSmile Since it was so early and still not full light and with the fog so bad I decided to stay put until I could see better. I saw eleven more deer in the next hour and a half.emoWorthy To say the least they were truely moving this morning. I finally could take no more waiting and went to my deer to see what I had. He was a very nice large eight point with a spread just shy of 16 inches. He weighed about 160-175 so I knew I had to go get the 4 wheeler. When I returned there was a doe and two yearlings no more then 20 yards in front of my blind. I would say that 15 deer by ten oclock was a good day in almost anyones book.emoApplause

I will try to get some pictures posted as soon as I can. I am going to have Churly do it since he is a lot better at it then me.emoThanks

I am just dumb I guess. I tried to do that on my old, out of date computer several times before and never could. I had a freind come over to"Show me how" and he could not get them to work as well. I am not sure it is the user or the computer. It is probably just me.emoBang I figured I had better stop before I slung the whole thing across the room.emoMad I can e-mail them just fine but try to get them on here and...emoGoofy Jmax

Jmax, you need one of my super duper computers to "Git Er Done" Don't waste you time and effort on an old computer, life is too short. You will be posting all kinds of pics then.

I wouldn't know what to do if I saw one like that.  Well, after I shot maybe....and cleaned my drawers out.

Thanks, I have seen several torn up small trees in the area so I knew there were a couple good ones there but they apparently did not get big being stupid. The G-Two on the left side is broke off at the end and two of the other points are slightly broken/chipped at the ends as well. Good sign he is not the only one in the area. This usually means that there are a couple more in there at least his size that are giving him a run for his money. With the point broke he has been being challenged. I may have to go back and see if his dad is around.emoBigsmile Jmax

Congrats on a nice deer. i usually never see anything decent like that late season, but this year has been kinda crazy for us. i know it feels good to finally connect on one after a long season.

The deer seem to be doing qite a bit of chasing around here! I saw a 6 point dogging a doe yesterday. I also saw 2 big bucks chasing a doe this morning in in Bradley Co.
