Well, I can finally report that I caught several fish. I take my son to Dayton every Tuesday for a meeting. That leaves me with about three hours to occupy myself. Now that the water is finally on the rise, I decided that it was time to hit the banks and catch some fish. So I stopped in around the Dayton Marina and boat ramp area. I started over by the picnic area with no luck. Not to be discouraged, I packed up and moved over to the boat ramp as most boats were gone and the area was quiet. I went to the bank next to the dock, threw my line in, and nothing happened. I threw it back in a second time, got a hit, set the hook, and pulled in a nice spot -- long and fat -- guessing approx. 2 lbs. Threw right back in closer to the dock and pulled out another spot -- a little shorter but still fat -- guessing at least 1-1.5 lbs. Didn't want to wear out my welcome (and I was running out of time) so I moved to the ramp on the other side of the dock. Threw in and on the second try was slammed but no catch. Threw to the same place three more times before I finally caught a largemouth about the size of the second one -- approx. 1-1.5 lbs. All this in 15 minutes using a T-rigged watermelon seed finesse worm. Probably doesn't sound like much, but I was really happy and had a blast.
