My boats been in the shop so Ive had to fish from the bank the past couple of days . So I thought i would work on my angling skills , well at least try to get some skills lol . Heard a lot about the senkos so I bought some and corey at SW gave me a quick lesson . Went to WT by the bridge and tore them up mon. afternoon . Then went back yesterday and someone had my spot so i went to HB same results ! My question is , are these baits as great as everyone says and i think they are now or did i just get lucky lol ? And how would some of you guys fish them in a tx where time is a factor ?
Thanks Jeff

I fish them as fast as I fish any other plastic. You can fish them Carolina rig with a really light weight. Wacky style in grass with a jig head with a small piece of worm tipped on the hook or a worm hook that has a wire guard, but the jighead works best. I just would not use them unless I was sure there were fish there,

I used the slug-o years ago and great results! They dont make the slug-o anymore but the senko is pretty much the same thing. I just started using the senko in the past few years and have the same results. I rig them like i would a weedless worm but with no weight . I cast out and let it sit for about 5 sec. then i give it 2-3 short jerks and let it sit 4 about 5 sec. again. I just repeat this pattern and have caught alot of fish this way. if this pattern doesnt work, I will change it up a bit. Most of my strikes have been when the bait is at rest. If I wait about 2 seconds after a strike, I seem to get a better hook set.

I'm with tie1on. I fish mine weightless, texas rigged and throw in trees and let it sink. I don't do the twitch thing, but rather just turn the reel handle a couple of times slowly and then wait, repeat until you clear the brush then work it like a fluke back to the boat. And I personally use Yum Dinger instead of Senko. I have found them to catch as many fish and they are MUCH more durable.

I hope to be fishing a Dinger this evening at Parksville catching me some Spots!

I also fish a senko weightless. I like to tie a barrel swivel at the end of my line and attach about an 18 inch leader with the plastic on the end of that. Seems to work out good for me. Well... I say good, lets just say I have caught 1 or 2 like that. LOL

Tie1on, they do still make the slug-o. You can find a variety at BPS. I believe Walmart carries them too.</p>
