killed my first deer of the year today. 8 point 140lbs field dress. he was not chasing or swelled up or nothing. i think the rut is still a few weeks away.

tried to add pics but said it was too big. oh well. not a monster rack but it will eat good. i am thankful for everything i kill no matter how big or small

thanks. maybe if somebody that knows how to put the pics on here chimes in and can put it on here for me. other than that, i dont know how to do it. lol

bout time you contributed to the freezer. lol. glad the drought is over. good deer. don't mean your done for the season either. we still got room.

had good rutting action week between Juvenile hunt and Muzzleloader, lots of scrapes appeared in a few days, warmed back up and slowed down. Put out Tinks on second sat of muzzleloader and had two bucks come in wide open. Anyway I hunted 5 times the first week saw 3 does and 8 bucks. We put 3 in the freezer and added two misses.

Nice one bigkuntry! That deer will eat just fine emoThumbsup I have to agree with you on the rut not being in full swing yet in some areas. I know where I hunt is crammed with deer, and I can count on one hand the number of scrapes I have seen since september. Even the scrapes I have seen look like a half ass turkey scratching? (very small) like they are just not feelin it yet. I also put some tinks out on sept22 and had a 6 pointer come in 10 min. I hunted Thursday and hunted Saturday and on Sat. I counted 16 FRESH rubs and 5 scrapes that were not there Thusday at dark. I honestly believe that a large majority of the doe and yearlings are comin into heat causing bucks to "lock down a doe". Bucks will push does into safe cover until she gives it up, wich means hunters may notice spurts of activity.

Just my two cents...
