I've had my 115 Mercury Optimax for a year and by the owners manual it is due service to keep the warranty. I have less than 30 hrs. on it. It must be serviced by a Autherized Mercury Dealer. I would appreciate any Dealer suggestions in the Chattanooga area, and does anyone know what the cost of this service may run. Thanks for your help.

Chattanooga Fish-n-Fun did some warranty repair service to my Optimax motor and they have great service and were quick to get the motor back to me!

You aren't required to take it to an Authorized Mercury Dealer for service. You can do it yourself if you are capable. Any maintenence that is outlined in your owners manual can be self-performed maintenance without voiding your warranty. Engine manufactures (especially Mercury) suggest that you take it to a dealer but it's not required. If you do decide to DIY read your owners manual carefully and record any important information.....Now repairs are a different story.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll look my owners manual over real good and may just do the service myself and as Minner suggested "Record Everything"

If you have the Mercury +2 year free extended warranty that they give away in boat show season then you must take your motor to an authorized Mercury dealer to have your service done or you have to show proof that all service was done with Mercury OEM parts. Just a FYI.
