Mother Nature helped our cause without a doubt on this one. I planned all week to run up to Soddy, but with the lightning show up there, we headed down the lake instead.

Spent the first 30 minutes at stop one and nada - decided to move to stop 2 right before dark. First cast I have a 5 pluser slip at the boat on the Ned. I miss played that fish at the net with the spinning rod and got pissed at myself. Frank kept me positive and said, that fish was a good sign of what was in the area. He was right. Not long after, he sets the hook on a 4pluser LM that thinks it’s a SM. Frank had to feed line out of his baitcaster as the fish ran under boat - played it like a pro to the net. Not long after I set the hook on the big mama, on a jig. After a trip around the boat and 3 gill slapping jumps, we get her to net. I could not keep her from jumping. Wild fish. So 2 good fish are swimming in the boat. We stay here for 2 hours and catch couple more fish but no more keepers. Move on to other water. Hunt and peck and get a solid 3pluser in front of a dock we like to fish at about 11:30. Catch a couple more keepers On that stretch but no help.

Finished the night in the park with no upgrades.

Weighed in 13 and change and had a 7pluser big LM for the win.

All fish caught on soft plastics and jig. No blade fish.

And Hats off to Chad for taking the time and putting forth the effort to get in the water and fizz the deep water fish that were struggling after release.

Thanks to the committee. And congrats to all those that finished in the $$.

Good seeing everyone and shooting the bull before and after the derby.

Well done Pete. Nice bag. That’s the way Chad is, he knows the bad press that all tourneys get with dead fish, and just doesn’t want the CFF to get that rep. We have for the most part an incredible group of fishermen in the CFF, that’s why I believe it’s the best tax series in this area.
