We made the decision to run up river to our old stomping grounds even though the water conditions were what they were.... i have fished the lower end of Nick with a buddy for 3 out of the 4 last weekends and our results have been pretty weak all in all. We found a little offshore obscure spot that had some small keepers in it; but I just felt like that wouldn’t hold up. The fish we had found frogging and punching were small too. So up river we went.

Water was dirty, so we fished tight to the rip rap with visible baits. We caught a mixed bag of LM, SM, and Spots. Biggest Brownfish was 17.5” and a real chunk. We fished some of our good SM areas and were hoping for a big mama but just did not happen. We were able to get 3 really nice fattys on this pattern though; but never hooked up with that elusive kicker. Baits we used were, SB’s, CB’s, Jigs, and Tubes. Ran about 60 miles total.

Thanks to Dad for fishing with me. Congrats to Todd and David on the win. Couple good guys

Thanks to the committee....

Glad you and Pete,Sr. had a good day. We thought about going up, but decided to go the other way. Shoulda followed you. Another good finish.

Glad to be your net man. That first fish you caught , a 15 lb. striper, was too big for our net though. That was a nice tour through the “Grand Canyon of Tennessee “. I was so hoping and thinking that the last fish I hooked was a nice smallie, but it turned out to be a blue cat??.
Thanks to the committee for their hard work!

Gotta love when the run pays off! I think I would have to have an extra can of gas with me to make a run like that! How many gallons does your tank hold Pete?

26 gallons. I bet we ran out 22 or 23 gallons. When I fueled up I stopped pumping before the burp, but the needle on my gauge was real close to full so I stopped fueling. When we got back to the ramp the needle was pretty darn close to E. Ive made that run before and it didn't burn as much fuel but I was solo, lighter load, and not running against a 4 to 5 mph current going up. We ran pretty hard too, between 5700 and 5800 rpm.
