FirstLight, Upper Nick, Brownfish, Greenfish, or Spotted Bass (We Hoped), 3/5/17, Nauticman
Dad and I hit the river today at about 30 minutes after sunrise. Fished until 3:45. And for us it was tough, tough, tough. Not sure I remember a day down there where neither one of us scratched off a good Brownfish or Fatty. We tried different patterns and couldn't get much going.
We fished most of our "usual places" and they did not pan out. We did get some bites, but it was almost as if the fish were just mouthing the lures; you'd set the hook and feel some pressure but then no fish.
The water temp early was 53 and when we took out it was at 57 i believe. The flow varied; early it was 20'000+ cfs and when we took out it was 12,700 cfs.
We finished with 1 small Browfish, 1 Keeper spot, 3 white bass, 1 yellow bass, 2 drum, and a blue cat. We threw everything pretty much. JB's, Cranks, Jigs, SB's, etc.
