Glad to have Dad fish with me for this one. He doesn’t care for fishing after dark but is willing to sit in if Frank can’t make it.

We did a “daytime” Pre-fish trip last Sunday and caught a few keepers throughout the day. One stretch yielded some pretty nice fish Including a 4pluser LM. So that was first stop. 2nd or 3rd cast I have a good fish with some weight load up on a CB and it pulls off. I’m still confident. We get a few bites down through there but no livewell fish. Move to stop 2 and dad sets the hook and rod does not move. Then it does. About 45 minutes to an hour later we release the biggest fish he has ever caught in his life he says. 80 pound class blue cat. Regroup and start fishing again - a stretch we have caught big SM, LM, and nice spots in the summertime and come up empty.fish around the bridges before water goes slack and same story. It’s dark now ZERO keepers. Cross river to a pocket and start getting a lot of bites from smallmouth and spots on CB’s but only one little keep spot. Go to next stop at 1130. Read fish. Get a couple jig bites including one that breaks my line - oh well. About 1 o’clock we start running shallow rip rap with SB’s to try and just get 2 more keepers lol and get 1 more pissant spot. And that’s it. Caught 15 or maybe couple more. Most bites were on was CB’s & SB’s. Couple on jig.

As many good times and monster mama’s we have caught down there below that damn dam she can be very stingy come tourney time.

Congrats to all those that sacked ‘em up. Impressive fish weighed in especially considering the other boats from the dogfight up around the dam.

Thanks again Dad for fishing with me.

Pete you did win just getting to fish with your dad. You'll remember this a lot longer then a tournament win

Thanks, son, for your patience and for getting the fish into the boat. This took up valuable tournament fishing time during a productive period with current flow, but, after all, it was the biggest fish of my life and hooking it on a small tube bait and fighting it with 10 pound flouro line took some time. Too bad we lost some good fish that would have helped our showing.

Getting to fish with your dad was better than all the fish caught you are a lucky man .

Let’s see
Tourney entry $40
Gas’in boat $30
Gas in truck $30

Dad catching fish of a lifetime — priceless

Sounds like a perfect trip

Way to go Pete and repete

Father son time on the water, there is nothing better
