All,
Just picked up a boat and I’m getting back into fishing again. I have to get a depth/fish finder and I want one with GPS. There are so many out there but, with a budget of around $650.00 what would be a good suggestion. I have been told buy a good color finder and get a hand held GPS. Also if anyone has a nice used one, I'm thinking color. Any help would be great!!

P.S Thansk flip1up for the TM looks good on the boat!

Thanks,
Doug

A Lowrance 520C is a decent choice and a Humminbird 787c2 is a better choice for the same price. The 520 has 2400 watts while the 787 has 4000. I have had both and could be happy with both but I prefer the bird. It just seems to be a top quality unit. I just bought one last week for 650.

What about this one? Lowrance® LMS-522C iGPS Sonar/GPS Chartplotter Combo
I can get this one for $585 new from gander mountain.

Or

Go with the Humminbird 787c2 for $650

I want something that is also easy to use!!!

I think they all seem to be a little complicated at first but after you use it for a few months it becomes easy.

I like my lowrances but it is just what I am used to. I have a 520 and a 332 on my boat networked and sharing the same GPS receiver.

I talked to Jighead and he had a LCX 17m w gps that he is selling at a great price. I pulled the specs on the unit and its cool. You can hook up sensors on the motor and compute MPG and a ton more stuff. Although it is a non color screen its really good quality.

Flip1up when you come down this way to guntersville let me kow we can take my boat out and you can teach me some fishing tricks/holes.

Thansk all for the help!!!

I have two LMS520 networked together on my boat and they work really well. I have never had a hummingbird but i know some guy's i fish with do. They have no complanits.

Have always been a bird man for 30 years and just switched to lowrance, have the 28chd on the console and a 520 on the bow all networked, these units are awsome for the price, side scan are great but the price is to steep for most of us. so it is a matter of choice for you which way you want to go.cant go wrong either way they both are fine units now and made well
