Fished for a few hours today. Started near the house where I know that there are crappies but they were all small. The baitfish, threadfins, came to the top at about 9:30 and I cast netted up some to freeze. 1/2 hour later I had half of a 5 gallon bucket full. I fished one of my fall creek spots and got a couple of blowups and that piqued my interest to check out my fall topwater spots and the bass were all over. They were chasing bait in the sloughs in Harrison Bay and I caught 20 with 6 being right at 15 inches. Not biggies but they were all on a rattlin' chug bug but two of them. I decided to see if a puppy would catch some and I only caught two and both were 10 inchers, the only small ones that I caught. I plan to continue to see which is better but the chug bug seems to get better fish. Maybe I need to have a couple other things on to experiment with too. I also hit one of my catfish spots as I plan to take my pastor and his son catfishing in the afternoon tomorrow and it only took 5 minutes to have a couple of bites and an 8lb blue(small for most of you guys but still fun). October always is fun on Chickamauga as everything seems to be pigging out for the winter. Everybody needs to get out there soon.
