At least that's what I can tell. I have use of a friends boat any time I want. He's a tremendous friend. On my last trip out, the boat really pounded us during running down river and back, the trolling motor bounces like none I've ever seen before. It's mounted on a G3 bow and sits flat well. I want to get a strap to tie that down... probably velcro to hold it down on the bracket while you go through rough water or under pwr. The motor apparently bounced and cut the cord from the depth finder to the bottom of the prop where the mount for transducer or shorted out a fuse or maybe even hurt the transducer module. Help? I am not wanting to go work on his boat... It will bring unwanted attention... I'd like to take it somewhere for service and have it fixed properly. Any suggestions for a guy who lives in Marion Cty? Live in Jasper, but only the best care and value for service for a boat that I should treat as my own, all the way around. I know NOwhere. I figured my pals on CFF could point me in the right direction? Unless someone has a dandy of a GPS unit with a good map chip that they'd sell me cheap for an upgrade to his boat! emoHeart I LOVE those...

Did the wire get cut for sure??? What brand and model #??? Someone might have a spare transducer and cable!!

From what little I know, I would guess that ANY repair to the cable would be noticeable.

A lot of CFF folks have old stuff laying around. If no one here has a transducer and cable for your model, then I would advise searching the net for a replacement. Should not be too hard to find?

It is nearly impossible to repair/splice the tranducer cable. Replacement transducers run ~$50 for most Lowrance units. They are available through Lowrance parts (http://www.lowrance.com/Products/Accessories/) or at stores like Boater's World, Cabela's, BPS and the Gander Mtn up here. Would guess the 'Birds are similar. It is an easy DIY job to replace the transducer. Be sure to secure the cable to the shaft. I used electrical tape at 4-6" intervals, leaving slack where the shafts join to allow the head to turn. Adding the tie-down to prevent the bouncing would be a must as well. Any of the fine marine dealers that sponsor the CFF would also be able to make the repair if you decide to go that way. Good luck!

Noticable would be me sitting in his driveway with a flashlight, a stripping tool and tape. THAT was what I was trying to avoid. Just get 'er done. Thanks guys. He called me after seeing this post and said he fixed it and something about me being an idiot.... J/K But it's fixed. I'll fix that tomorrow.
