i installed a new humminbird 525 on my brothers boat today and for some reason it stops working when the boat is on plane. it works fine at slower speeds. anyone know what the problem may be?
CHECK YOUR VOLTS,MOST OF THE UNITS HAVE A LOW VOLT CUT-OFF.MAYBE WHEN UNDER POWER THEY ARE DROPPING BELOW THE RECOMENDED OPERATING VOLTS FOR THAT UNIT.
Every Humminbird I have ever had on my boats have done that.I talked to a rep at bass pro and he said I needed to install a highspeed transducer.emoScratch
Be sure that the transduser is mounted right. Read your instructions carefuly. The location is very important, but something else that is important is the vertical position. It has to be so far below the bottom of the boat too so it can skim a smooth section of water. If you have it too high on the back it will get a lot of bubbles and won't read right. Hope this helps.
I'm having the same problem w/ my hummingbird transducer. I really think I just need to play around w/ it a little more to find the right height/location in which to set it. Been waiting on some calm water to get out and adjust it. My water temp reading still works but at higher speeds the graph stops working. Would really like to mount it inside but I've got a 16ft aluminum. I've got a 565. Anyone have anymore input? I'm interested in this also. I would like to get the most out of my depthfinder.
Cavitation is nulling your transducer pulse, the temp probe is still in the water. A thru-hull transducer will improve your planing graph images. I have the same problem with my hummingbird.
