Hello everyone! Well I'm going to post this just because I went out and I think that if we will all post our results every time we get out even on non productive trips, then it will allow the fishing reports section of this forum to be the most value. I hit the water around 3:00 pm on Sunday the 16th. out of the park at Harrison Bay. I first tried the shallow water over the grass, but with all the wind and bright sun nothing was happening. I moved out to a little deeper water and still no luck. Next I went looking for shade and fished some shady structure with still no luck. Man the wind was really blowing. I next tried some deeper stumps with my trusty C'rig and well you guessed it ----- nothing, a big zero. By now I'm thinking that I'm just wasting my time and I could be getting some of my other stuff done. I only fished about 2 1/2 hours, with maybe a couple of hits, but no fish! I tried in line spinners, willow leaf spinner baits, rattle traps, texas and c'rigged worms and lizards. Water temp was 74 and it was clear with visibility 3' - 4'. There didn't seem to be much if any current. I think that the combination of bright sun, high winds, and no current caused the fish to be in an uncooperative mood. Well that's my excuse anyway. This is my first no fish trip this whole year. I want to encourage everyone to post your results no matter how good or bad. Any information about water conditions and fish activity is valuable. I know that we all want to post about the trips when we load the boat with fish, but I have to admit that sometimes I just don't find em. Everyone be safe.

Great post CCSM. If you read my posts from fishing the 14th and 15th you'll see that I too found that the shallow bite was off. Like you said, a combination of factors probably lead to this. I didn't mark or see many shad shallow in the usual spots either. The bass may be following the bait. Both may be put off the shallows because of the fluctuating water and the cooling trend. I would expect some movement to the shallows again in the next few days, at least in the afternoons with the stable weather and sun the next few days. The cool nights in my experience will keep the shallow bite off a bit in the AMs and TVA shows on their site that they will drop the water a foot in the next 24-48 hours which may pull the fish off the shallows too. I would expect that all those fish we were on have pulled off to a drop near deep water and if we can pinpoint those spots well really be able to load up. It may take some electronic searching to figure it out but I'm game for that.

Dad and I fished Soddy creek and Possum creek Sun. There were plenty of baitfish in both but very few fish. Anytime we could see some chasing shad we would catch them but waiting 15 or 20 min. for them to surface was rough. We did catch more in Possum creek on a crankbait about dusk and a few on a finesse rig. Over all we had 12 to 15 fish from 3:00 til about 8:00 and only two keepers (barely 15 in.) I did get to fight an 8 lb. drum for several minutes. The fight was good and I got to keep my crankbait, so not too bad.

Hey Racefish,

Thanks for the report. It might have been slow, but at least you caught some fish. In Harrison Bay on Sunday the only baitfish I noticed was just a couple skittering across the water. It is good to know that the baitfish are still packed in Soddy and Possum creeks.

Doesn't sound like I missed anything this weekend. May be that the full moon has got both the deer and the bass moving at night and held up in the day. Don't know when I can get back out to try it mayself I am tied up this weekend but may try to go this saturday afternoon and see if I can find a taker or two. Keep those hook wet anyways. Jmax
