Caught one giant largemouth and some spots down below the dam on live bait. Drifting the live bait around the walls has been very productive for me, especially on two or three consecutive bright warm sun shine filled days.

Thanks for the report Captain - That's a nice Nick-Pig! I appreciate the contribution to the site - You are welcome to post a number to your guide service or link to your web site in your posts.

You fishing threadfins on the bottom with some weight or just letting them swim freeline? Nice motor btw! Got one just like it on my G3.

Catching them with a 1/16 oz. weight above a barrell swivel on a large bait holder 4/0 Khale hook, 18-24 leader, 6# line, medium light rod spinning reel. You can freeline but I have had better luck with a sinker, it gets the bait down to where the fish are quicker which equals more bites. I Love my motor quite, smooth and dependable and a 4 stroke no oil. Just filler up and go...............forever on a tank of gas.

I have been very pleased with mine - the EFI in those freezing cold mornings always cranks instantly and it's quiet enough to catch smallies trolling crankbaits right over them.

Mine has been great so far. I changed the oil after 10 hours - maintenance has been easy. There is one issue I had with mine after about 50-70 hours, using it in the cold, and water thrown up on it from the transducer. It started squeeling after long runs like a belt was slipping. I knew it couldn't be the timing belt since it has teeth on it but that's exactly what it sounded like. I did some research and found it was a common issue on Yamaha 4-strokes that freak people out. There are rubber seals around the vertical drive shaft visible below the bottom cowling that get dry over time and make that noise. Solution: Silicone spary on the drive shaft while it is idling...Problem solved.

Thought you might be interested in case it ever happens to you - might save you a trip to the mechanic...

Rsimms you might want to check this out too with your new F60.

Nice fish!!!!!!! She's quite the sow. I am looking forward to getting back onto the shad sometime in the near future. I've been having a hard time finding them in Harrison bay and Wolftever. What was the live bait that you caught her on?

Were you drifting threadfins or minnows? That is a good catch! When does the striper activity heat up? April has always been my best month below Nick-a-Jack. Let us know the name of your guide service, how long you been doing it, and where you fish? You know, some background type stuff. It is great to have some experts here on the site for us lowly fisherman.

No, I'm just real in to tournament fishing. Last year I was fishing for what ever was in season. and then I got back in to this stupid bass fishing. I was fishing alot with Psychofisher (Brad Walker) & Bud Shelton. Both are long time Striper fishermen. Realy miss it. If you catch them fine & if you don't fine. But the first time you win a few hundred bucks BAM!!! here comes the feaver. You may have seen Brads TV show on WB network. It was called the Fish Gipsies. Anyways niece to meet you...2jigs...

Jim4596 and Polodog

I'm new and I am a guide. I guide mainly on Nick-A-Jack. On the lake and in the tail waters of the dam. My primary fish focus as a guide is Rock fish, Hybrids, smallmouth and spots. Catching them with live bait and artificial on light tackel and line.

We did not weigh the fish but I would guess some where around 6#.

Jerdog ,

Yellow tails I believe are the same as the threadfins someone else may know the differnce but we have been catching our fish on yellow tails. April is an excellent month to catch a really big rockfish or hybrid. I would say April is definately one of the best months if not the best. Just kinda depends on the rain and TVA's generating schedule. I'm just starting my guide service so I'm new. I do have my USCG liscense so I'm a liscensed merchant marine officer. I have fished Nick-A-Jack for 33 years I do occassionaly fish a dog fight in the afternoons as well as some Saturday tournaments out of the Marion Co. Park. And I am in no way an expert. I'm just passing some information along that may help one of you fellows out with a tournament or fishing with a family member or just by yourself. In turn your post may help me with a client.
