Well I guess CCSM and I will be as ready as we are going to be for the CFF3 tournament. Got our AL out of state linceses this morning and tried our luck. We found the ramp we are going out of and it does look like a very nice one. Saw another CFF member there with the sticker on the truck but we do not know anyones trucks so we left a message to whoever that was.

We had a pretty good day all things considered. Caught a couple really nice quality bass and look to see some heavy weights next weekend.emoThumbsup Never caught the kicker we needed to really look good but I think I had her on in a laydown but she got me hung and than she came off before I could get there.emoBang I got her marked for next saturday.

Now we don't want to give away any secrets with the tournament coming up so let me say we caught all our bass in the mouth.emoBigsmile The location of every one of them was in the water.emoBigsmile We caught all of them on artificial baits.emoBigsmile The baits were retrieved fast, slow, in the middle and on the bottem.emoBigsmile Nothing was caught on a silver buddy, a rooster tail, or a puppy.emoBigsmile I'll even go as far as to say nothing was caught on the surface.emoBigsmile The water temp when we got there was cold and when we left it was cold +6.emoBigsmile Now I have more than likely said too much so I am going to stop there. I hope this helps you all next week.emoEvil emoLaugh Jmax

My cousin won his tournament today on the G with 18lbs.second place was 12lbs.they caught all of them on rattle traps ripped out of the grass just upriver from goosepond. All fish were caught before 10:30 am

I was there too. Thanks for the note guys. I caught 20-25 fish, with a small limit out of the bunch. Best fish about 3 pounds. Funny thing, all of my fish came off the same baits and the same places as Jmax and CCSM. I didnt get there til about 2 p.m. so I didnt get to try some early fish, but I found something to go on next weekend.

Thanks for all the specifics Jmax. I thought that we were here to share info on the forum. I know, you'll spill the beans after this weekend. Maybe you and I can get out on the Chick this week and what we learn will translate to what's working on the Big G. Let me know when you want to go. You too CCSM it's time to get out there and slay them.

Your one to talk Polo,...I seem to remember a 4 and 1/2 lber that someone showed us all before the last CFF2 and made everyone want to know more and seems like the perosn that put that up for us all to drool over never said just what he had done until after the tournament last time.emoPoke Don't ya just love this sport and this forum?????emoEvil I get to pick on folks and I am not even fishing right now. I use to have to save this until the tournament itself.emoTongue Jmax

Sounds like a good trip there jmax.. I would have never guessed the pattern if ya hadn't helped us out. emoUpsmile and yer really getting a good response in turn too. Hey it sounds like everbodyu had a good day on the water. I may even get to go this week emoThumbsup maybe, hope so..../.

I'll have to second what Jim said, no doubt he and are are ready and looking forward to the event on Saturday. We had a great time and based on reports from every other fisherman we came across, we (well Jmax really) did quite well. It was an awesome day on the water. I'm a little upset at Jmax for giving you guys so much information about what we used and where we caught the fish, but hey this is a place to share information. emoLaugh Anyway after the event, I'm sure there will be plenty of information spread around!!! One tip that I will share with everyone, don't make the mistake I made and not wear some sunscreen if Saturday turns out to be another cloudless day. Between the sun and wind and the breeze of Jmax's expert high speed driving (oops, I guess that was a clue that we ran around a lot:eek:) I got one very burned face and ears!!! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at the event and meeting some of our new members.

Take Care,

Ha .. well I know just what I'M GONNA DO .. based on Jmax's information. I'm gonna fish sometime between now and then ... on the Big G here or there ... with an artifical lure but nothing shinny or from the bird family, and I'm gonna throw it out or pitch it in ... in deep or shallow water but not OUT of the water, with or without cover, in cool .. but not super cold water. When I catch a fish, maybe big or small, I'm gonna retrieve it fastly slow. And I'm gonna spend a lotta gas gettin' to them.

Huh ... forgot!!!! I don't have a boat! TOO funny!

TT

PS FORGOT ... AND I'm bringing my suntan lotion!!!

Sorry Jmax, I don't remember that. Selective memory loss runs in my family. Good luck to the Ooltewah guys out there on the big-G this weekend, and everybody else too for that matter. I just have to root for my neighbors.

Really though guys remember that the section of Gunt. that is in Tn. is 1 smallie each person and has to be 18", Al. is 15" on them. You dont want to possibly carry 15" smallmouth into Tn. waters with you. If you decide to fish below the dam, you might want to go there first. Dont want anybody in any trouble with TWRA. Does anybody know if the Spot size limit has been taken down from 15" to 12"? I had heard that. If you go up river the Tn. line is past the RR bridge a few hundred yards, before the end of the island, and there is a good population of smallmouth and big spots up there. Just trying to lure you away from the fish.
