Our first tournament of the season started with our dinner Friday night at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. We had 40 people in attendance with all young anglers receiving some great door prizes provided by our sponsors: Dicks Sporting goods, Cabela's, Bass Pro Shop, and Strike King. We had a great time and had a wonderful inspirational message brought by Brady Wood, Youth Pastor from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. We launched Saturday from Chester Frost with 11 boats. The important thing is we had 11 anglers from the age of 5 to 16 fishing and having the time of their life with someone that helped make a difference in their life by just taking the time with them. The team of Conner Covington and Brady Wood brought in 15.9 pounds to take 1st place. The team of Chandler Nestor and J.C. Chandler had 15.2 for second place. The team of Davis and Chris Kilgo had 15.1 pounds to take 3rd place. Davis and Chris Kilgo also won 1st big fish with their 5.11 Largemouth, while Chandler and J.C. had a 4.2 pound for 2nd big fish. We had a total of 33 largemouth caught with a total weight of 85.45 pounds.

1st Place - Conner Covington and Brady Wood $302
2nd Place - Chandler Nestor and J.C. Chandler $165 plus $22 2nd Big Fish
3rd Place - Davis and Chris Kilgo $83 plus $33 1st Big Fish
4th Place - Blake and Billy Wheat (won the just out of the money award - $30 Dicks Sporting Goods Gift Certificate) - 13.2 pounds
5th Place - Amber and Gail Winton (Our all girl team) - 9.9 pounds
6th Place - Bailey and Brent Brady - 7 pounds
7th Place - Katie and Jeff Sullivan - 5.14 pounds
8th Place - Hank Lowrie and Thomas Wilson - 4.13 pounds
9th Place - Zack and Darreyl Duggar - 2.9 pounds
10th Place-Chandler and Marshall Wallace - 1.11 pounds
11th Place-Drew Hawkins and Pat Brumlow

We are worn out from the wind- will post later, just wanted to say thanks to Brian and Pleasant Grove for hosting the event. My son had a great time and we look forward to the May tournament.

As someone who only got into tournament fishing because my kid wanted to do it I can't compliment this program enough. Thank you Brian for bringing this event to the area and giving my son an additional chance to compete and a chance to qualify for another National event. Friday night was great and I also really appreciate you giving me time to let your group know about NBT. Thanks to Thomas Wilson for making Hank your partner this season, and even though you two didn't place he always has a great time fishing with you and learns a lot.

If you have a young person who likes to fish I HIGHLY recommend you get them involved with this trail. Brian and his entire family do an outstanding job with the Fishers of Men Legacy Series. Their next tournament is May 14. Go fish with them!
