I recently started keeping a fishin' journal. Basically all I record in the journal is 1) Place (2) Type and Color of Lure (3) Time and (4) Weather Conditions. Just curious as to how others might organize their fishin' journals and if they add anything special besides what I am recording. I think it will be very beneficial in the years to come (at least I hope so anyway).

I kept a detailed fishing journal for many years. Here's a 2002 Entry:
March 17, 2002
Below Chickamauga early AM. Cloudy. NO Generators, dead water. Fish breaking surface near turbines. First fish of year. Bob Burdette on Fishing Pier hooked one on Zara Spook. I helped him land it and took photo. About 15 pounds. Me and Brad moved up there. Burdette raised another fish, no hook-up. I raised one fish, had him on a few seconds and pulled loose. Another guy in boat caught one. Most fish breaking intermittently over toward short wing wall. In afternoon, cranked generators up from massive rainfall. Next day they opened spill gates.... we’re screwed for a week at least.

I really did refer back to my journal quite frequently. Whether it helped me catch fish or not, it is always fun to read and remember.
Obviously "too much water" hasn't been our problem this year. I don't keep a written journal anymore. You can find my journal here: http://www.sceniccityfishing.com/gallery07.html emoBigsmile
