Well, I was finally able to take my granddaughter fishing today. I was able to take her as long as I got her home in time for church. I planned on letting her sleep until 6:30 but that didn't work out as planned. As I was getting the drinks and snacks ready, she came to the kitchen and gave me that "where do you think you're going without ME" look. I had to chuckle. I told her to sleep a little longer but she said "no thank you, I'm ready to go." (love this girl!). The boat was already hooked up and pulled out of the garage so off we went...

We put in at HB and got a message from Seth and Mike telling me they were on a good school so we headed that way. It wasn't long before we had one on the line and I let her reel it in. Great way to kick off the day. Our luck in this spot wasn't as good as it was for Seth and Mike so we moved on to a dock that normally produces numbers but no size. I figured just to keep her hooked up would be a good thing. Heck, she ended up outfishing me (again). Final count was 10:6. Yes, I enjoyed being outfished by my girl.

We hit a couple of other spots and she just loved getting on plane and going up and down the river. Saw a couple of Osprey and one had a fish as it flew off it's nest. She wanted to go back to the numbers dock but said she wanted to go eat with me before I took her home so we weren't able to swing back by.

I would have to say that this was one of my best days on the lake. She had a great time and a full day. Up at 5:30, fished until 11:15, had lunch, went to church, and had ball practice. I wish I had half the energy this girl has.

I have no idea what the water temp was but we fished in about 12 FOW using 1/8 oz jigs. Colors were Outlaw Special & Blue Thunder. She fished hers under a bobber and I just used a slow retrieve.

Big THANKS to Seth, Mike, Mike, and Bobby for the help. My girl had a great time and I can't wait to get her back out there.

Well I'll have to put this up there with one of my all time favorite reports, esp with the pictures telling the story... THIS IS WHAT FISHING ITS ALL ABOUT.... emoWorthy emoApplause

Thanks all. She had a blast and it's a day I'll treasure. Hopefully I'll get to take her out more often and build a lifetime of memories. She's my outdoors girl and I look forward to sharing as much as I can with her. Within 3 years I hope to have her fishing tournaments with me. She's dying to help me launch the boat. Crazy kid.

That's really great! Mine is 14 now and fishing isn't "cool" now but we did have some of those days-and I will never forget them. Now I just think about taking some of the 14 yr old boys fishing-ONE WAY TRIP!
The softball picture makes me think of how consumed she (we) is with that. From baseball at 6 yrs old to school and select softball now.
Great post Mike!

This is great. And you'd probably have more energy if you could conk out anywhere you please.

Hahaha...

Thanks for the share.
