Managed to get out yesterday morning to enjoy the obstacle and slalom course!!! Debris and whole trees were everywhere. Woke up early morning to look at the weather and either my trusty phone didn't refresh the page or the weathermen were wrong... Forecast was cloudy with 15%. Excited about the day I took my time and loaded the boat making sure I had everything since I haven't been out in a month or so. And off I went for Chester Frost. And wouldn't you know not even a mile from home the downpour began. Oh well didn't stop me. Got to the ramp and suited up.
Pulled up on my first spot and landed two right off the bat. Things were looking good despite the rain. Ran out into the main channel, carefully and a bit slower than usual. Pulled up on some outer banks and pockets and managed a few more. Spent the rest of my time looking deeper getting prepared for the hot summer. Managed a couple more on a deep crank. Around 2 I decided I had enough because by that time it was sunny and hot. Have the sunburn to prove it. Hit a stump field on the way in and pulled out one more.
Managed 9 for the day. Caught on a variety of baits. Spinnerbait, stick bait, square bill, and a 5xd. Water temp ranged from 76-79. Caught them from 1fow to 14fow. The bite seemed really active earlier in the morning (didn't put in until 830 so I prob missed the better half of that) and slowed with the sun. All in all a good refresher after being absent for several weeks. Good luck to all and be safe out there
