Fished for an hour and a half starting at about 4pm today with Fishing Forum's Biofisher and his son Gabriel(did I spell that right?), anyway had caught shad about 10 min. before we went out and almost didn't get any as all the shad in the creek had moved out of the shallows and the wind had the water all choppy. Decided to try my classic smallmouth hole and Biofisher stuck this nice 4 1/2+ lber right off. Gabriel masterfully brought it in. That is the biggest smallie that I have ever held and it was a bruiser. We only managed three more fish before we got too cold and we headed home shivering. The current was off and there just wasn't alot happening. It was worth it however for that smallie. Gary and Gabriel are a great fishing team, it was a blast to see Gabe whip that bass! Here's the pic.

Awesome catch! - and a perfect way to get a big grin on a young man's face and some great memories. Way to go guys! emoThumbsup emoThumbsup emoThumbsup

BioFisher's really a great fisherman, Gabriel will learn lots as he gets older from him! Anybody else out there(including Jmax) that gets out with thier kids on the lake catching the slimy ones?

Did you actually weigh it or use the measurement formula to guesstimate? That smallie looks as if it would weigh in the 5.5 - 6lb range.

That boy is going to talk about that bass for years...and each time it will get a little bigger;) .

I weighed it on a scale that I have in my boat. I've checked it in years past and it is very accurate. It was between 4 1/2 and 5 lbs by that scale. I took two other pics of it and it looks even bigger in those pics but the one I put in the post was the only one with both of them in the picture.
