As long as the water is up you should be ok , winter pool is tricky , basically stay within the buoys if you head out to the main lake, you can run most of Harrison bay with out problems, but take it easy until you learn the lake. Get a lake map if you don't have one, it will help you with shallow spots. Fishing tips, if you want numbers with the chance of a 5-7lb bass go to the river park to launch instead of wolfteaver, but generally the bass are bigger in the lake than in the river.
If you launch at just b4 daylight fish the flats close to deep water 20ft plus with spooks or poppers, buzzbaits and spinnerbaits, until and hour or so just after the sun rises, then follow the fish back into the deeper water as the sun rises beyond that point, you can find fish shallow all day but you will have to hunt hard to get fish shallow unless you just get lucky, there are places that hold good fish 3-7lbs year round shallow.
