Fishing below Chick Dam

I have never fished below dam @ chick. My grandson wants to fish there. Is the loading ramp at riverpark the best place to launch? Are there any hazards we need to be aware of?

River park ramp is good.
There are lots of hazards to watch for. I don't fish there very often. I'm sure someone on here will help with the hazards.

If your running up right below the dam. Go up the left side in front of flood gates instead of the right side in front of turbines. Go under railroad bridge in between the second and third pylon from the left, as you get through it veer right toward wing wall near turbines. Set her down any time after that. That's about all I know and yes the river park ramp is the best. Anywhere down river is pretty safe. Some shallow water on the downtown side of the island by the aquarium. Everything else is fairly clear and safe.
