Started @7:30 SAT AM. After an hour or so, I caught a short crappie. 2 casts later, a nice fat keeper crappie. A few more casts, 2 lb drum. Caught nothing else down that bank and headed up the other side. Caught a 1.5 lb LM and a 2-14 LM. One more small LM and then left the cove.

Working the next area, I landed what looked like the new "Tiger" bass...black back down to the lateral line, white belly. No distinguishable lateral line markings, just the change from black to white. Smaller mouth than a LM, and built like a football. Is it possible that the "Tiger" has made it to the CHICK?

Not 10 casts later I boated a 2.5 lb smallmouth! Thanks Tx anglers! Never thought I'd find a smallie where I was, not near a channel in calm water on the bank. Within minutes I hooked the big fish of the day. He grabbed my plug and felt like a stump until he stripped my drag (5 ft light pole, 10# test on a baitcaster) about 20 feet down the bank. I finally got him turned around and he raced right at the boat. I couldn't keep up and the slack allowed him to shake free. DRATS!emoMad

I tossed quite a few things at 'em, and other than 2 hits on a c-rigged twin-tail hairy grub, everything was hooked on that same 4" Rapala that went through my finger last week. I lost another 8 or so on the way to the boat. They weren't hitting it right, and even the ones I boated weren't hooked very well.

All-in-all, an enjoyable day on the lake...were I in the Tx, I'd have had a bag of 4 at about 9 lbs. Pretty good day for a rookie. Never left sight of the 58 bridge and everything was caught right on the bank in 1-2 ft of water off stumps and laydowns, mostly.emoDance

Good report. Did you get any pics of the Tiger Bass?  If so I would love to see one. Sounds like a pretty good day there and wish I could have been back out there.
