Took my 11 yr old daughter and a friend of hers out today. Launched out of Grasshopper around noon. Fished around the bluffs for a while ten ran pver to Sale Creek. Picked up a 15 in keeper on a jig. Not much wind to speak of umtil 2:00 or so. a 5-10 mph breeze started blowing out of the South. Time to pick up the blade. Fished down the shore where there's lots of small bluffs and chunk rock and an 18 1/2 inch smallmouth nailed it right at the boat. picked up another 15 inch Smallmouth a couple of casts later. The bite died down and only caught a few more shorts on the blade. Ran back to Grasshopper to finish out the day and caught another 15 inch Smallmouth on a jerkbait, (Pointer 78, what else?). Great day to be on the water. Looking forward to next weekend.

Nice smallie Pointer. I was given a Pointer once by a good friend and still have it but it's worth it's weight in gold I think so it's hard for me to throw, I'm just too cheap to replace it if I lose it. I really like it's action however.

Nice smallmouth, keep those reports coming. I sure would like to get in on that action. If we continue to have warmer days is this action going to shut off? I post a request earlier asking about smallmouth in the lake. God Bless.

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask you what brand of time machine you are using. I use ACME. I haven't used it for fishing yet but it sounds like a good idea. How did you get your boat in the thing?

Guys, I had no idea what you were referring to. I read my post over and over and didn't have a clue. Then I noticed the date of my post. Geez.... I feel like an idiot. Just goes to show that you don't have to be particularly intelligent to post on the net. emoRedface emoRedface emoRedface

Don't worry Pointer, I have done much worse. My typing has gotten better over the years but I don't think it's fair not being able to change our posts after 30 minutes. There are lots of times I've gone back and looked what I've written and didn't even get to the point I meant to make or had typos galore. Just be sure that I meant no disrespect, just a lighthearted post. I wish you well in the tournament this weekend. emoThumbsup

Polo-Dog, can you not edit your own posts after 30 minutes? Is there an error message of some kind? I just checked and the permissions are set up for registered users to be able to edit their own posts but I am unaware of an expiration on that ability. I am an Administrator so I see a slightly different view than regular users.

I lost the biggest smallie I've ever hooked in sale creek two years ago. When it happened it was a solid 4lber now when I tell the story it's a solid 5lber plus;) Sale creek has been good to me over the years and is probably my favorite place to fish on the TN. Every time I go in there I go straight to the rock that I lost that fish off of wishing for another chance to catch him,or her. I have also caught some good smallies in grasshopper to.

RE: Fishing the Chick 11-5

When I have tried to change a post after 30 minutes it won't let me. A message comes up and says that I can't.

Polo Dog - I found that setting in the software where the default value is 30 minutes. If you let me know a preferred setting I will be glad to change it.

DHaun, you know, I really should be able to get my act together in 30 minutes but sometimes an hour or more is what it takes. Maybe I just need to be more efficient, if you could extent it to 60 it may be helpful.

Where did you find those smallmouth in Grasshopper? What time of the year was it? I thought that place looked like a smallmouth hole the first time I saw it. How do you get into sale creek from Grasshopper.

There is a point on the left if you are going back into grasshopper just past a swimming area with alot of deadfalls on it, That usually holds a good fish or two. There are times in the summer when I can go down that left bank with a spinnerbait and catch them like crazy! Other times you can do the same thing and not get a bite.Spring and fall seem to be the best times to really do good in there but during the low light hours of the day in the summer it can be good also. The first major cove on the left has alot of brush in it out at the mouth that some crappie fishermen put in there a few years ago, that usually holds some fish.Hope that helps!

Hey Pointer 78, I was like you, when I first saw polo-dog's comment about the time machine, I was like well what is going on, then I noticed the date on your post. I didn't mean any disrespect at all, just having some fun. I hope to meet you at the event on the 12th. It seems like there are a bunch of us Ooltewah guys who have nothing better to do than hang out on this forum!

By the way, it has been a long time since I fished out of grasshopper. Is the creek channel marked going out to the main lake? If not, does anyone have any landmarks that they use to stay in deeper water? Any help will be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Hey ChooChoo.....I broke a prop a year ago coming into Grasshopper while the water was down. Now I tend to stay about 50 yards from the rock point on the right as you're going out and head towards the red channel marker at a fairly slow speed until I'm about 100 yards from the red marker. Then I open er up.
