Me and 3 other guys are coming down from Missouri the 1st week of May to fish Chickamauga. Any body know where a good place to stay would be. Don't need anything fancy just clean and close to the water.

Also, what would be a good area of the lake to fish? Have never fished Chickamauga before.

Thanks

Thanks, do they have a safe place to park a couple of boats at night?

Are there any lodges, cabins, or small houses?

I will second island cove - never stayed there but have kept a boat there and they have worked on my boat - they run a good operation

You guys are real encouraging, why do I get the feeling that you don't want anybody to know about your little honey hole.

About the lodging, I checked into Island Cove and we will probably stay there if we don't find anything else but I think we would rather be farther North, closer to Hiwassee River area.

Any suggestions for which part of the lake to fish?

Thanks again.

Sleep inn, has power for chargers on the parking lot, Holiday Inn express, Blue Water campground all in Dayton. The Hiawassee is about a 10 minute boat ride from Dayton. And , yes, the lake has been very crowded so far this year.

The first week of May is my favorite time to fish the Chick. Post spawn they will be eating like crazy. Don't listen to these guys the lake is on fire, they are going on the bed right now and me and my buddies have all caught our PB this year. I would avoid fishing Saturday mornings but Friday and Sunday isn't that bad. I fish during the week and sometimes I don't even see another boat. If you need help on a pattern or where to fish private message me and I will tell you where and how to do it because I get just as much joy as seeing other people do well, unlike most of the people on this site

There is a new hotel in Dayton that is supposed to be very fisherman friendly. Sleep Inn I believe. May can be incredible but this is also a very pressured fishery that can be very fickle at times so be prepared for for one day you could catch 30 fish with a personal best stringer and the next day you struggle to get a bite! It's just how this lake fishes. And ignore some of these guys...they don't even fish, they are just forum regulars. lol

Thanks to all you guys for the info. We will be fishing during the week so maybe we won't have too much boat traffic.

I personally live in Tullahoma but my brother and our two older uncles are coming from Missouri. I have not fished with either of my uncles since I was a kid (about 45+ years ago) and am really looking forward to fishing with them one last time before it is too late.

I really hope they can catch some fish. They like to crappie fish so maybe we can catch some of those too. I know next to nothing about crappie fishing.

Place to stay: Fishing Trip

Check out #3924590 with HomeAway lots of fishermen come here to stay; 3 boat ramps within 5 to 10 minutes near Chickamauga Lake. Plenty of places to park your boat/trucks with peace of mind

This is an awesome lake but the fishing pressure is unreal any day of the week. Im being honest. Id save the dough and hit ky lake its much bigger and the anglers are spread out better and it probably has as many 5+lbers than the chick.

You obviously are fishing a different lake if you "sometimes I don't even see another boat". Tell the guy straight up. The guys telling you it will be crowded no matter what day you go are being truthful. Still plenty of fish to catch, but you are going to be fishing one of the busiest lakes in the country. That's reality. Just expect it and it won't bother you as much. Hope you have a great trip.
