has anyone been throwing a rig lately and what is working my dad is in town from south alabama and we are going to try and get out and see if we can catch a couple bass on one and going to do some crappie fishing.
Seen a lot of people throwing them but haven't heard much. I lost one about 7 pounds on it last week but that was the only bite I had all day on it. I'm still learning how to use the thing myself so sorry for the lack of info bud.
thanks for the reply trickwrm i threw one last year and never caught a fish on it i did manage to catch everything else on it except a fish we will give it a try and see how it goes.
So far this year I've caught a 10in latgemouth, lost a 7 pounder, and caught a 2lb hybrid. We'll figure it out though! Call or txt me if you ever wanna go. I'm stuck in kayak but would be more than happy to split boat gas. 423-994-4650
I threw it for the first time last year went to Chick and caught a 6lb, 5lb, and 11lb in about 15 min. A lot of people Have different opinions on it but i like to catch fish and the rig does that.
Oh yeah I agree with you, it definitely catches fish. Its just a bait that I haven't experimented with long enough to find what works best. I don't know where they work best, what combination of colors, what water temp, structure, and all the rest of the variables that go into any other presentation. Not knocking the rig, I just need more practice to hopefully have a day as good as you've had with it.
I like zoom white ice swimming flukes for the baits. As far as structure I usually do best in small pockets and secondary points. I fish rock and lay downs when temp is below 55. For my home lake that is usually December through March or April depending on weather. I throw the five wire with the baits on the bottom three hooks and dummy baits for the top 2. Sunny days or dirty water I throw rig with blades, cloudy day or clear water rig with no blades. Some may do it different but that is what I have found works best for me. Hope it helps.
That helps a lot! Do you do better slow rolling it or just let the fish kinda tell you how they want it? So far I've been throwing it with the keitech swimbaits but in a green ayu color so maybe that's why the lack of bites. Do you prefer a certain jighead for better action or to keep it weedless around wood?
I throw them on the yum money heads usually 3/16th or 1/8th depending on how deep I'm fishing or wind I have buddies that use different heads. I slow roll, reel and stop and start again, and pop it as I'm reeling back. Just depends on what mood they are in. I don't throw seedless unless I'm throwing a single simbait. Keitech are good swim baits I throw them occasionally I just prefer zoom.
You just have to commit to that rig. I never did very good on it till I left all my other rods at home. I had one of the best days I have ever had when I made that decision.
