Due to the amount of tournaments that are being hosted on Chickamauga Lake, the Fishing With A Soldier Bass tournament will be held on 14 October 2017 out of Chester Frost. We are working on getting donations and sponsors all year long so that it will make for a great event. Last year we gave out over $6,000 in cash and prizes to our veterans. If you know of anyone that would like to donate, please send them to www.fishingwithasoldier.com or tell them to call me at 423 646 0376. Just let them know I am now stationed in Japan so the timing might be a little off. We look forward to seeing everyone there! *** I will start taking registration in August 2017. I will post on this thread once I start doing it. Thank you to all that have supported us in the past. Without you, the volunteer boater, none of this would ever happen! Semper Fi, Chase Estep

Re: Fishing With A Soldier 2017

First off, shout out to Chase for organizing such a great event in support of our military! The Heartland Classic is October 13-14th out of Dayton. There will be 300+ boats on the pond in this tournament alone. Just a heads up!

Re: Fishing With A Soldier 2017

Thanks Haden! I've scratched my head continuously on rescheduling, but in true Chickamauga nature, there are tournaments every weekend. I've even wanted to move it to Nickajack. I was told by several just to keep it on the same date and stuff. We will make due, in the end it isn't about the money or the prizes, but the willing to give back to those who given so much to us.

RE: Fishing With A Soldier 2017

Same day as the CATCH Classic. Leaves us out as boaters and adds another 50 boats to the Heartlands 350.

Re: Fishing With A Soldier 2017

Chase don't do that. It's a great event and very much appreciated maybe try a pre sign up and see what kind of boaters you can get I'm sure some will back out but still a great event slip it a week or so talk to churly on here see if we can make it work

Re: Fishing With A Soldier 2017

What a shame such an honorable event as this is pushed off of Chickamauga. Tournaments have taken over the weekends on the Chick and the ramps used for access. That's a fact. What with the towing vehicle and their buddy that has to drive to the ramp and park beside his partner, taking up 2 TRAILER PARKING SPACES rather than meet at someones home thereby taking only the tow vehicle. It's no wonder the only people that like tournaments are the ones that fish in them.

Re: Fishing With A Soldier 2017

I really don't want to cancel it, after all, it is about the vets. If I don't have boaters, then they can't go fishing. I've already made my mind up that this will be the last tournament on Chickamauga. After I'm done here in Okinawa, we will be moving back to my home town in Johnson City and the tournament will go up there without having to book anything a year in advance and still get booked on top of at other locations on the lake. The support you all give to this tournament is amazing and I really appreciate everything you all do for the vets and myself. I'm still scratching my head. Maybe move it to Sunday?

Re: Fishing With A Soldier 2017

Alright ladies and gentlemen, we are moving the tournament to the 15th of October rather than the 14th due to too many tournaments on the 14th.

Also, we are going to bring back the real reason for this and that it will be a FREE event for all. Boater and Veteran will fish for free. Donations are welcome.

There will be a pre tournament meeting and a time and location yet TBD. We will have Olive Garden catering.

Chase

Thanks for doing this again, I hope it doesn't become the last time you have this on the Chick. I tried to fish it last year but had a conflict.

This year I plan to do so and will be bringing a Viet Nam Vet, good friend and Cousin in Law with me. I am a Vet but didn't fight in any war during my service, he did so he is the Vet and I'm the boater.
Looking forward to it. His name is Terry Bradshaw and the form will be sent in today, mine is already submitted. My name is Ernie Biddy.

Thanks Again for doing this for these Vets.

Re: Fishing With A Soldier 2017

I got them both brother and thank you all for your service. I'll be updating the site soon. I spent most of my "design time" updating the CBA points today. Unfortunately, this will be the last time it will be held on the chick. Once we come back from Okinawa, we will be moving to Johnson City. The tournament will be held on either Cherokee or South Holston next year and we also have one in the works going on Norris Lake. Details for those will be in the near future.

Be on the lookout for the new FWAS rods designed by Vexan rods!

Re: Fishing With A Soldier 2017

Due to my current medical status, I have cancelled the Lake of Ozarks trip. This will allow me to take part again with this group of Veterans.....should be a good season & weather will be good.... emoGeezer emoUSA
