For those of you who don't know Jmax had a couple of his old bass club friends from Virginia down this week fishing our area lakes. I believe their names are Pat and Martin. I had the pleasure of fishing with them on Chickamauga today. I fished the back of Jmax's boat and they brought a Triton down with them. It was windy and cold but we caught them good, me and Jmax boated 40 bass and his friends did well also. Mine came on leward points with spinnerbaits, LuckyCraft LV-100s,crankbaits and a fluke. Jmax and I had a double hookup 3 different times today which was a lot of fun. We stopped at one place and I caught 3 on a white crankbait on 3 casts. One bass must have been a Florida strain, it was the greenest bass I have ever seen come out of the Chick and was only 16-17 inches but must have weighted 3.5 lb, it looked more like a football with fins. Jmax's friends said they love our fishing forum.emoToast

That Jmax feller sure is a great guide....It looks as if I need to go with him sometime.... Madbomber, stinks as a guide. I will fish with Bbass in the AM and see what kind of guide he is.... he better be good or I will tell on him....LOL

Sounds like they are biting well right now! I love chunking the LC lipless cranks...cast a mile and the bass can rarely shake them. Was there any consistency in the depth at which the majority of the bass were caught?

Thanks for the report tarheel, it was good to see you guys out there. We went for crappies today but my heart was with you guys bassin'. Somehow I just don't get as excited about fishing for crappies as I do bass. I am still really surprised that the bass were that interested today as the cold front came in and I figured that the fish would have lock jaw. One thing that may have helped is that the water temp didn't change much overnight and the water was on the rise, keeping them shallow. Jason had a good question.

Jason the water depth was mainly less that 5 feet deep. The spinnerbaits were fished 1-2 feet under the surface, the crankbait was a 4-6 foot Norman. The wind really helped today.emoHungry

Yep,...we had a great time out there and like tarheel said we cuaght I think 42 bass today.emoParty My buddies caught 22 bass and said they had a blast. The main difference between them and us was we had three hot spots where we killed them quick. Had one spot where we caught 9 in about 15 minutes, another where we had 7 in about 10 minutes and another where we had 5 in about 15 minutes.emoEek Other than that we were about the same. I am sooooo glad we got on them today since my friends came all the way down from VA to sample our waters. They called a bunch of the folks and our old club guys up in VA and rumbed it in that we had boated 64 bass and they said everyone was jealous. The bass have slowed down up there and they are not catching them like that now. I had a great time with tarheel and our best five keepers would have gone somewhere around 11.5 to 12.5 lbs. Might have been in the money. MY firends caught most of theirs on rattle traps, with most of ours off spinner baits. Me and CCSM are going back out today with my friends so maybe we can do it again.emoBigsmile

Jason, I think another key was to find wind blown points or structure. My best one today was a 2.5 lbers off a wind blown fallen tree in about four foot. The 3.5 green FL bass tarheel caught was his best one and it was on a wind blown underwater grass point where there was a ditch. The bass seem to be relating to points and structure where there was some cover and wind so they could come out hit the shad schools and then retreat back into their cover.emoCool Jmax
