fished the frostbite tournament with Christine. wanted to jump around on a bunch of points but the fog pretty much killed that idea. got over to the mouth of wolfteever and was working around on those flats over there but couldn't buy a bite. wanted to run but there were a number of boats moving around and the fog was still kind of thick and then I got a reminder to stay just a bit longer when we watched a boat stick themselves on the shallow spot across from the hbsp. things cleared up a bit and started trying to hop around a bit but everything I wanted to fish had boats on it. I hope they caught them :) did manage one keeper on the rig and one short on a jig. later in the day we were fishing the break on this shallow spot and here comes a guy.... I tried to yell and wave him off but he wasn't paying attention to lots of things obviously, I told Christine "watch this!" crunch, crunch, grind, grind, VROOOM, poor little boat and lower unit. from reading the reports sounds like it was a weekend for getting stuck and hitting shallow places. ouch!

Warm weather, non caring and if there is water, I can run it...Quite amazing at times , keeps Performance Props in business as well as fiberglsssrepair. Shoal in ffont of HBSPcollects several this time o year.....run safe..... emoGeezer emoUSA

It happens every year but this year it seems to be happening more then normal. I believe it has to do with the number of boats getting out early due to the warm weather. Most die hard winter bass anglers who do this year after year know where not to go. But some of what we saw yesterday were people who normally don't get out this early. I guess on the good side of it all is the guys who do boat, motor and prop repair are going to have a lot of business if this keeps up. emoRolleyes Jmax

Lowrance 'shallow water highlighting' works ok for me but I have heard often that lakemaster offset is superior- with Humminbird that is. A note on Navionics contour levels- I believe contour levels were set up according to a max lake level of 685'. Which is 2 ft over normal full pool of 683. I always take that into account when I set my shallow water shading. Its also a good idea to set your shading 2 ft deeper anyway on a hazardous lake like Chick.

Hey Rusty....it was great meeting you at the office today. Great service. Thanks.

The trick is remembering to change the offset when you come back from below the dam. It fluctuates so much down there I'm always messing with it.

lakemaster lake level offset and depth highlighting makes running the lake so easy, even with the water down and in reduced visibility(aka fog).

We were fishing near 58hwy between the bridge and IC mid day no fog. The flat with all the gulls sitting on it when fishing boat is hauling straight at it. It is totally out of the water. Tried to yell but too late. Crunch! Pow! Smack! Both fellows had to get out and push.

I can vouch that it can happen to most any of us. I've been fishing a fair amount since 2001 and the last several years I have fished the Chick quite a bit year around. I have never beached my boat. Then about 3 weeks ago on Monday me and Stratos G put mine on a hump in the back of CFP. I knew it was there but just didn't get over towards docks enough. Lucky it didn't hurt anything.

Then on Wednesday me and pointer 78 was fishing and I found a point that I had never seen before. This time I wasn't so lucky. We lucked out and some folks came by and stopped and pulled us off but the bad part is I had to have my prop reworked.

We also saw two other boats beached that day. One on the hump straight from ramp in CFP and the other straight out from HB and tow boat was getting them off.

SO BE CAREFUL IT CAN HAPPEN TO ANY OF US!!!
