fished a tournament saturday, ran to some rocks to start with a cb but no love moved out to a point with a lipless cb and caught first keeper. moved over to a shellbed/break and caught my big fish(5+lber) on a cb. beat around some more but no love. moved over to a point/shellbed and caught my 3rd keeper and it was like 9am. started thinking about a BIG fish. ran around and skipped a jig around some docks but no love. stopped and made a pass along a creek channel break with the V-8 but no love. fished through an area where i had found some grass last winter with V-8 and lipless cb but no love. started slow rolling a spinnerbait around and caught 3 more and culled twice. with 15mins to go i pulled up on a hump and fired a lipless cb out there, its sinking and then my line starts taking off! i wound down on it and the rod loaded up......thinking 10lber!!!! it was about 10lbs but it was a drum 
ended up with 3 fish for 12.5 and second place
went out yesterday with Cameron, his 16yr old nephew and his friend who both were in town from Texas. tough fishing 4 in the boat but thankfully i have a 21'r . so we started the day in the area where i caught the spinnerbait fish and i caught 2 about 3lbs each on a cb within the first 20mins. we beat around there for a while but it was hard so we moved on. we went into a pocket, the last place i had seen healthy hydrilla. made a pass with a variety of baits and Cameron caught a good one on a lipless cb, definitely over 6, probably close to 7. circled back through to see if there were more. went to another shallow area with grass and made a pass, Cameron caught one more little fish on the lipless. bounced around some more shallow pockets looking for fish and grass but didnt catch anymore bass. one of the boys did catch a nice crappie. great weekend of fishing
