good and bad afternoon yesterday, took off work to get some maintenece done on the boat and sub, well didnt get the oil filter on tight enough and spewed oil all over the drive. drained the gear oil out of the lower unit and it looked like a white russian, replaced it, poured what was left in the bottle into my used oil bucket and there was water in it, drained it again. UGH!!! back to town, hour plus round trip. got everything right and decided to go fish for an hour or so. started down the bank with "the roller" in between docks and flipping docks with a jig. caught one little fish on each. getting late and heading in decided to fish a stretch of shallow rock. tossed "the roller" up near the rocks and started winding, felt like i was hung in fishing line until i felt her shake her head :) oh yeah! biggest fish ive caught since ive been here, dont think she was double digits.............gotta get some scales to keep in the boat. all the frustration of earlier in the afternoon was forgotten :)

Congrats on the fish! White Russian...? Water's gettin' in there - Most likely the -water pump lower housing oil seal-, or the shift shaft bushing. Could also be the propshaft bearing carrier oil seals (cheak for fish line under the thrust washer). Worst case scenario - a crack in the housing. I'd drain that down and pressure test it. Should hold 10-12 psi for at least one minute with no bleed down. What motor is it? You can contact me PM if necessary.

lol! its an SEI lower, ive been down this road a couple of times with them. i just ship it back and they fix it. send me one back and i run it til it breaks and start over. just sucks. i check prop shafts monthly since moving here, apparently folks around here like to leave line in the lake(i posted about this problem before).

Good fish always makes the day go better. Watch out for the White Russians that will get you in trouble!
