got out just poking around, caught a few flipping/pitching to shallow cover. got into a couple backwater areas with really nice clean water and caught several bucks, a couple females and saw several pairs of fish on beds. in one little area i saw 3 big females, one about 5lbs and 2 others that i didnt catch but the were significantly larger than the 5lber. so i picked Collin up later in the afternoon and we ran around on some shellbeds and caught a couple of perch and onthe last stop of the evening i was winding my cb along and i felt a distinct bite, i felt the fish eat the bait. lean into it but nothing, no movement at all for 2-3 seconds and then it moved. i pulled harder and it barely moved so i knew it was big. backed off the drag and tried to wear the beast out, knew fairly quickly it wasnt a bass. let Collin wind on it a bit but was worried about loosing a cranking rod. finally got my cb back and gave the big ole flathead to some guys on the bank, they were estatic, taking turns taking pics with it.
