awesome 4 days of fishing, just getting to spend most of the days on the water was great!!
6/15- bounced around early fishing topwater along the shore and caught a few including a nice smallie. i think it was about 930ish when i started looking around. looked at and idled a lot of the ledges from pinky's to the dam and just never found a group of fish. a few places i'd see one here or there. finally getting frustrated, hungry and ready to pull on one around 4, i ran back up tot he lake to a shell bed thats had some fish on it and jacked a couple before putting it on the trailer.
6/16- got a little later start, had to get the boy up and fed. given how slow thing were looking off shore down the lake and i wanted to test the Rapid in a flipping scenario. went into pockets flipping what ever cover i came to and caught fish pretty regular, biggest was about 4.5 and the Piscifun Rapid did GREAT! easy pitching, smooth little reel and i laid into a few of fish pretty hard with no problems(this reel has a composite frame and i had concerns about the reel seat breaking) . did get out a topwater to fish in between targets some to and managed a couple that way. took the boy back to the house for his nap and got some lunch. went back out for a couple hours and started back to looking going up the lake. same drill as before but saw a few more fish and managed to catch a couple on a cb before heading in.
6/17-ran the topwater early and caught a few, really dont remember what i did from there; it got hot and i went to the house til later in the evening. went out a ledge and beat around a bit, caught a couple on a c-rig but nothing impressive. watched the stream of cba boats running by......
put it on the trailer
6/18-ran the topwater again but on some new water and hustled around a bit and caught em pretty good. mayfly hatch in full affect caught 3 keeper smallies(plus a couple of shorts), a bunch of spots and of course the largeheads too. fun morning!!! sun got up good and i went to looking again, managed to catch a couple before calling it and going home to wash the boat and play in the water with the boy. had pleasant drive by that turned into a evening fishing venture with Jerry(Strato-G). we caught a few on worms and sb around the grass, no bigs but fun and good company. got a REALLY close look at one of those red cans, no harm no foul
