Fished the Chattanooga Crappie Club tournament. Left the house around 5:30, the temperature and the wind wasn't too bad. Got to Chester Frost Park Boat Ramp around six and was greeted with steady hard blowing wind and white caps. Having second thoughts, I put my 14' jon boat in the water. At blast off the wind seemed to have calmed down and I went strait to the dock where I caught the 15 incher friday. Nobody home. Not the first bite. They must have been evicted from that dock. I must have caught the one holding the rent money friday. Go figure.
Went to another dock and Brian caught 4 nice 12" crappie in about 5 minutes. They shut down after that so we decided to move on. Had some good spots in mind but the wind made it impossible to fish. We tried a bluff but the current and wind had me operating the "hand controlled, rear mounted" trolling motor while Brian fished. He caught one and I accidentally caught one. We had enough of the wind going one way and the current going another so we just wanted to get out of the wind. We went to a few more docks and back to the weigh in. We had our 7 good healthy fish limit by 9:00 so we were just fun fishing after that. We threw back any fish we caught under 11" and ended up keeping 12 fish. Had to keep a few extras for back up incase we had any die on us. We ended up with our best weigh in so far, 7 fish at 7.71 pounds. Once again, not good enough for a win but we still had a good time trying. All fish were caught on BG outlaw special , 1/32 and 1/16, #2 hook. Water temp was 48 to 50
All fish were caught using Bobby Garland, Outlaw Special 1/32 and 1/16, #2 hooks. Water temperatures were from 48 to 50.
