This past weekend I finally bucked up and spooled a couple of rods with fluorocarbon. I've just never been able to make myself try it for some reason, but I did anyway. By the end of the day, they were the only two rods I used! I was using Berkely Vanish and was very pleased. I was wondering what everybody's thought were on different kinds of fluoro...

There are several threads on this already on here. I have had terrible luck with vanish as a whole and i have tried it several times. I would rank them like this BPS, Seaguar, Cabelas.

I would not recommend vanish due to the fact that every other spool seems to be very fragile and breaks very easy! I have heard some good things about other brands of flouro but i will only rank what i have used.

What Fishhead said. My lone experience with Vanish was great too ... the FIRST day. Give it another trip or two and that stuff gets crazy brittle.

There's a lot of good being said about the Triple Fish flouro on some other boards lately, so that may be the next type that I try. The good news is that it's really cheap ... the bad news is that it ain't too easy to find.

Rattletrap, RangerRob makes a good point. The first day I used the Vanish, it seemed flawless and very smooth. 2 trips later, it doesn't seem to have the strength it had new. Brittle, weak.

I think I'm sticking with my Excel!

The benefits of GOOD 100% flurocarbon line are many. Forget Vanish. Amoung the good ones are Seaguar, Gamma, P-line and Triplefish. There are others, but these are the ones I have used sucessfully and don't hesitate to recommend.

I have never been able to figure out why companies have tried to promote a coated Fluorocarbon line or other gimmicks to try and sell a chemically altered Mono and call it Fluorocarbon. It must be that people who do not know better just keeps on buying the stuff. emoScratch Get a good Mono that suits you or even a braided line. Tie on a real 100% Fluorocarbon leader like real fishermen do and quit wasting your $ on imitations.emoSorry
I use SEAGAR and a couple other 100% fluorocarbons as leaders only. If you use Braid connect your line to your leader with a "Slim Beauty knot". If using Mono, use the "Uni to Uni knot".

P-Line, P-Line, P-Line...Vanish sucks. Bbass and I were both using 8lb test on our last outing; he had Vanish and I had P-Line. His line would snap at the slightest amount of pressure when his lure snagged. When I got hung up, I would literally pull the boat when trying to break-off. As stated, Vanish is totally unreliable...Ike only uses it because he is getting paid to by Berkley. With P-Line flouro, I've had zero issues.

I really like Sunline brands of flouro. They are pretty pricey but hard to beat. I also like Yo-zuri Hybrid soft. Good stuff.

Seaguar InvizX is BY FAR THE BEST fl-carbon line I've ever used, and I've tried many different kinds.... P-Line does make a good Fl-Carbon line but I use Seaguar InvizX 100% of the time.....

I love Seaguar Invisx. It cast good, last a long time, and is just hard to break. Vanish is horrible!!!! You can order the seaguar from basspro or cabelas for a decent price. I have some sunline that blake got me on a spinning reel and it feels good also but it is pricey. I think the Invisx is great.

I've tried Vanish, too, and don't care for it. I use flouro solely for its low-stretch properties. Compared side by side to P-Line CX, it had the same amount of stretch. So it's not worth it to me. P-Line flouro, though, has noticeably less stretch and I like it for baitcasting applications.

I have tried P-Line Halo, but didn't care for it at all. I would rank it with Vanish--too much stretch. Plenty strong, though. Give me P-Line standard 100% flourocarbon any day of the week.

vanish-well as stated above- it breaks and breaks and breaks! i keep reading on here that the invisx is good so i'm going to try some as soon as i find the best price on it.
