Well the son and I had fished last weekend and did not have a keeper so our hopes were not very high for this one. After blast off we headed to our first spot, off shore thought we might find some... nope nada. We didn’t spend much time on it..made a move second stop, deep docks and second cast keeper 1... hey at least we are not going to get skunked.. we stay on the dock for a while and nothing else.. short move to spot 3 try top water before dark...nope nada. Make move 4.. deep rock.. we have about 15 until dark I’m throwing a square bill and about to lift it out to recast and bam.. keeper 2 we work our way to a point (secondary) and wow the are stacked up. Chad grabs the spinner bait I’m in the bottom of the boat retrying and he.yells net..I jump up grab the net in time to see this monster roll and I’m thinking finally he may have his first double digit fish.... nope comes up again and the spinnerbait comes flying back at us.. we stay on 2 points until about midnight making several small culls. All on spinnerbaits . We make final move to a rock bank and start catching right away on Texas rigged plastics , then it’s my turn I feel the bump and set the hook feel the head shake and snap goes the line.... crap... we ended up with about 15-20 keepers on the night . The only problem was that they were cookie cutter 2lb fish... all fish were caught in 12-15 ft on spinnerbaits and plastics... we had a blast on a beautiful night... always enjoy fishing the CFF tourneys and more importantly fishing with my son.. congrats to Tim and Will .. nice big fish and congrats to all who won money...see you at the next one...
