WOW....who ordered the wind...you know its going to be rough when the water is white capping before daylight...We make a run to our first spot a protected bank with some grass and wood apx 9ft with deep water behind it.. i tell Zane to grab the 2 square bills and we start casting. 10 min later we have our first limit.. could not ask for a better start. we stay in that are for about 2 hours and decide to make a move. we go to an area with a secondary point about 9ft with deep water and a little grass the wind was blowing straight across the point we start casting small fish off the bat and then finally we get what would be our best keeper of the day a solid 3.1/2 . we stay in that are for about 2 hours and we are catching keeper but nothing that would help us. i tell him lets make a move ..we decide to go to the Marina there at the Dam, I told him we would throw Square bills down the rip rap then flip a few boat slips. we start catching right off the bat with the cranks but nothing that would help. We start pitching senko's onto the slips. and finally we make an upgrade (2 OZ).. then around 1 i feel a tap wait..feel the line move and set the hook.i feel the head shake ...YES...i yell get the net ..this fish comes straight out from under one of the slips and then makes a right turn and SNAP (15lb p-line) .. emoBang emoBang emoBang ..it only fish we lost all day ..never got to see it but i believe it would have made a difference.by this time its 1:40 we head to the ramp...and load up we end up with i think 8.23 good enough for 3rd on a rough day...congrats to the winners and to Billy and Steve for the A.O.Y. you guys pushed us hard all year, that what makes it fun for us is the competition. Earl you gave it a great run as well..the drops got you...We are looking forward to the classic and doing it again next year.

Zane and I have had a great time this year.. I hope he has learned a few things..I have one more season with him before he moves to the HS team.i really appreciate his parents for allowing me to teach him..he's a really good kid and has a willingness to learn, listen...(his dad is going to be the Boat Captain for him )

All fish caught on Square bills, Jerk-bait's, and Senko's

also as a side note I have removed all of the P-Line for the 3 reels i had it on and replaced it with Segar..I will never use P-Line again that the 3rd or 4th time in about 6 weeks I have lost a good fish to line failure..

Nice report, Good Job, Actually, p-line is great stuff. could have got a bad spool or 2 but more than likely, its those big sharp teeth that break that line. Happens to me a lot too. I went up to,16,20,and 25 Sunline. No more 10 or 12 unless using small baits and finesse. I retie at any sign of fray, nicks ,kinks twist etc. Flouro,, . is brittle when disturbed. Funny you mention Segar. I've had bad luck with it. Anyway, good job!

i have bought 2 spools of the p-Line 15lb.. maybe its not good for plastics ..i have not had any issues with it with cranks...Who knows...

That is what you get for hooking big fish. If you catch small ones like me, you can use K-Mart monofilament...LOL

Good report. Sounds like you were fishing some good areas that held fish. Sorry about the breakoff. I too have had multiple issues with Pline in the past. I am 100% Sunline super sniper for flouro now. I like their braid too.

Congrats on 3rd!
