Well Chad and I decided to make a run to our first spot, we get there are there are 2 boats already there, so we work around the area for a while with nothing. Chad said come on dad I now where we need to go. So, we make a move. We get to the next spot and we can see fish everywhere I start with a trap as so does Chad and thus begins the spanking, within 15 minutes he has the first limit in the boat, after 20 more minutes he has culled a few times and I am still looking for the first bite, finally I see one and throw the Jerk-bait at it and yes finally I get one in the boat and it culls one of his, so now I feel better we stay in this area for about 2 hours, we are shallow enough that we are using the big motor with the skeg in the mud to hold us in place. (*redneck power poll?), after Chad makes a few small culls we decide to make another move, we get to spot 3 and are working a small area with TX rigged brush hogs, when Chad sets the hook. I was retying I hear the fish come up and splash and Chad says it’s a good one, So I grab the net and watch the fight (I was the official net man today) this fish breaks water 3 or 4 time before we get her in the boat about 6.1/2 and she appears to have already laid out. this is a good upgrade, now I think we have between 13-14 lbs. at about 13:00 and we decide to fish a few more minutes then head back to the dam. So, for the day Chad probably catches 20+ keepers and I have 1. He said I taught him well (what more could a dad ask for) We finish with 13 and change good enough for 2nd Place. All fish were caught in 3ft of water or less on Traps and Brush Hogs. Good luck at the net one in May (that one of my favorite time to fish the Nick) I am not going to make that one.
