FMs tour guide service to Big Cats 9/14/2006

We got out on the water this afternoon after work about 5PM. It was Fishing Machine, Baitbucket, Fishing Machine Jr. (Ill call Chum) and myself. We went to a spot where FM has had big fish in the past and had a great time. I have not been catfishing since I was in middle school and that was at a pond, that does not compare! We fought the high seas for a bit and after getting settled in Chum had a fish on. As he was reeling in the first Cat of the night on his zebco I got one on the same time. That seemed to be the trend. Chum (4 years old and very chatty) would hook one, get our attention on him and then the big boys would slam a rod on the other end of the boat. Chum pulled in the first fish that was about 6 pounds and I got mine in shortly thereafter about 11+ pounds. At one point during the evening Baitbucket hooked a monster that ended up breaking his 30# line near the hook. That sucker did not move for 10 minutes. Last but not least FM had enough and hooked into a sub. About 25 minutes later and plenty of big bubbles later he caught a 38#er. It was fun to watch, and makes me want to get out there again. Please note, I made a concerted effort to smile in my picture for you all and you should also note that after all of my badgering to FM about never wearing a shirt, he decided to show up in his Sunday best. That fish loved sliming that pretty yellow shirt. Thank you again FM, I had a ball.

Wow, sounds like that might have been a 50 plus fish that broke that line. Glad you guys had such a good time. I'm glad there are so many fisherman that appreciate this beautiful river system here. It is a true blessing to have this in our backyard. I'm looking forward to seeing pics

Well said shsimons - No need to go to the coast for deep sea fishing....we got the fatties up here in TN! I hope to get out fishing that area sometime soon myself. I was planning on that tonight as I had a few free hours but could not find someone to go on short notice. Maybe tomorrow night...Thanks for the report hooker771!

Way to go Hooker and FM. Nice lookin cats and sounds like lots of fun. I went to sportmans warehouse to get a net big enough to handle those beasts myself. It was the 1st time Ive been there. I thought i was in Fishin heaven. They didnt have 3oz egg sinkers though. the biggest they had there was 1oz. I get 3's at either Dick's or Hamilton's on Hwy. 58. They had a real good supply the last time I stopped in.

It sure was good to get out last night with you guys. I think everyone had a good time ( I know I did ) I just hope Little Fishing Machine didn't talk your ear off. As far as my shirt goes, with all the grief you've given me about not wearing a shirt, I thought I would dress up.emoLaugh

Good report eventhough it was a catfish report. When I catch one of those big things I just want my lure back and hope my line is not slimmed up too bad.

Dhaun, I agree with you about going to the coast. I went to Destin last week with the wife, kid and in-laws. We took an eight-hour charter and caught our limit of king and spanish mackerel. We also boated a few nice snapper, bonita and triggerfish. We had a great time and I'll try to post some pics of that trip tonight.

But we never caught anything bigger than 15 pounds and I remember thinking how is this better than cats on the Chick? I would say bass on the Chick, but every time I go with Hooker looking for bass, Mother Nature slaps us around for five hours and I go home empty-handed.
